All of this helps you level up your abilities and become a more formidable fighter.
Cooking lets you make food that recovers health and gives you temporary advantages in battles. Our guide below has everything you need to learn about recipes and becoming a skilled cook.
How To Cook
![]()
In Where Winds Meet, learning to cook requires first unlocking recipes, even if you already know what they are. Each recipe has specific requirements you need to meet before you can use it – you’ll find a list of these in the table below. You start the game with one recipe already unlocked, but after that, you’ll need to gather ingredients to make your meals.
You’ll need ingredients like meat and mushrooms, which are generally easy to find nearby. If you’re missing something for a recipe, you can explore the map to find places where you can gather, fish, or hunt for it.

If you prefer to buy ingredients directly instead of searching for them, you can find a merchant through the same system on the cooking screen.
Once you’ve gathered all the necessary ingredients, simply go to a campfire with a spit or pot nearby. This will open a cooking menu where you can prepare dishes. Some recipes offer minor healing, while others create powerful buffs like increased attack strength. You can also use the menu to find help with ingredients if you’re missing anything.
Recovery Dish Recipes

In Where Winds Meet, you can make two kinds of meals. Some meals slowly restore your health, while others give you temporary boosts. Right now, there are 13 different recipes for health-restoring meals.

Buff Food Recipes

As a big fan of cooking in Where Winds Meet, I’ve noticed there aren’t as many recipes that give you helpful buffs as in some other games, but the ones that do are still really useful! Plus, they’re easy to find – they show up right next to the regular recipes when you’re cooking. Right now, there are six different kinds of buff-giving foods you can learn.
These meals don’t stack, meaning only one buff effect can be active at a time.
