Alan Ritchson’s New Netflix Movie Lets Him Remake 2 Schwarzenegger Classics For The Price Of 1

Alan Ritchson’s new action movie, War Machine, coming to Netflix, is heavily inspired by the film Predator, but it also takes cues from another classic Arnold Schwarzenegger movie. Ritchson has several projects in the works, including season 4 of Reacher and a Reacher spin-off called Neagley, as well as the action film Motor City, which features minimal dialogue.

The first trailer for Jack Ritchson’s new movie, War Machine, is out now, and the film will be available on Netflix starting March 6th. Ritchson plays “81”, a soldier specializing in combat engineering who is undergoing the intense Ranger selection process. But his training is interrupted when he and his unit encounter a deadly alien robot that begins to hunt them down.

Alan Ritchson’s War Machine Feels A Remake Of Both Predator AND Terminator

The trailer for War Machine initially presents a classic, motivating military story. However, things take a turn when a giant robot—similar to the one from the 1998 game Metal Gear Solid—appears. From there, the movie feels like a reimagining of Predator, with Joe Manganiello’s character and his team being hunted through the jungle.

But War Machine isn’t just inspired by one action film. The robot in the movie strongly resembles the Terminator, leading some to believe the initial idea was essentially, “What if the Predator was a Terminator instead?”

Okay, so the robot in War Machine isn’t your typical human-shaped bot – it’s way more like those brutal Hunter-Killer tanks from The Terminator. But honestly, watching it, I got a strong vibe that it’s basically a love letter to two classic Arnold Schwarzenegger films at once. It feels like a two-for-one deal for fans like me!

Alan Ritchson Has Become The Modern Successor To Stars Like Schwarzenegger And Stallone

Thanks to the popularity of Reacher, Alan Ritchson is now being compared to classic action heroes. He has the right look and personality, and he’s a capable actor too. However, he hasn’t yet starred in a truly memorable film; roles in Fast X and Playdate haven’t quite made that happen.

I’m really excited about what’s coming for Joe Keery! With films like War Machine and the buzz around Motor City – people are already saying great things about it! – 2026 feels like the year he’ll really break through on the big screen. It makes total sense he’d be drawn to roles that feel a bit like a tribute to action legends like Arnold Schwarzenegger, and honestly, the idea of a movie that’s basically Predator meets Terminator? That’s an amazing concept, and I can totally see him nailing it.

Alan Ritchson Will Star Alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger In An Upcoming Comedy

Ritchson is working to become a leading action star, and putting his own spin on classic action tropes is a good approach. Currently without a firm release date, his film The Man with the Bag is expected in 2026, and will feature Arnold Schwarzenegger as a co-star.

This upcoming movie is a fun action comedy where Santa (played by Arnold Schwarzenegger) has to work with a thief, played by Alan Ritchson, to get his stolen bag of presents back. While the title Man with the Bag might suggest a lighter tone than War Machine, pairing a legend like Schwarzenegger with a rising action star sounds like a really enjoyable combination.
