Disney+’s animated series, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, brought back a lot of well-known characters in its first season, and there are ten more Marvel characters who would be perfect additions in future seasons. The show, which has a similar feel to What If…?, premiered in 2025 and tells the story of how teenage Peter Parker became Spider-Man and began his adventures as a superhero.
I was so thrilled to hear Disney renewed the show for seasons two and three right before it even premiered! The showrunner has promised us new seasons every year, which is amazing – consistent content is exactly what we fans want. And the creative team has been keeping us updated along the way, giving little hints about what’s coming, which is just fantastic. It’s clear they’re dedicated to this Spider-Man series, and I can’t wait to see where they take it.
I’m so excited for season 2 of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man! I can’t believe we’re finally getting Venom and Spider-Gwen’s version of Gwen Stacy. And the fact that Kingpin is coming eventually is huge! It’s great to see some familiar faces joining the show, especially since this version of the Spider-Man story feels a little different and hasn’t included many of his usual allies yet. It’s got me thinking about all the other Marvel characters I’d love to see pop up in the series – here’s my dream list!
10. Nightcrawler
As a huge Marvel fan, I’m really excited about the possibility of the X-Men eventually joining the MCU. But honestly, what I love most about Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is that it’s separate from the main ‘sacred timeline.’ It feels so fresh and allows for some really fun storytelling!
As a huge Spider-Man fan, I think Nightcrawler would be an amazing choice for a team-up movie! They’ve got a really cool history in the comics – they went from being rivals to close friends after first joining forces way back in 1976. They’ve fought side-by-side so many times, and honestly, the idea of Nightcrawler being Spider-Man, like he did in the comics recently in 2023, is just brilliant. It would be so much fun to see that on the big screen!
Okay, so I’m really excited about the possibilities with Nightcrawler in the new Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man movie. Because it’s set in an alternate universe, the writers have total freedom! They can bring in any X-Men character or story they want without having to worry about messing up the established continuity for future films or TV shows. It’s a really refreshing approach, and I’m hoping they take full advantage of it.
9. Black Cat
Black Cat is a popular character from Spider-Man’s comics, and she’d be a fantastic fit for the Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man series. Having appeared as both a villain and an ally, and even as a love interest, there’s a lot of potential for interesting storylines with Black Cat in the show.
Peter Parker is currently linked romantically with Pearl Pangan and Nico Minoru. Fans also frequently express interest in a relationship between him and Gwen Stacy.
I’d prefer Black Cat not become another love interest for Peter Parker. I think it would be really interesting to see her as a villain, using her powers to create bad luck. They could even do a story arc where Peter tries to solve a series of unfortunate events happening to him.
8. Vulture
I have to say, Vulture has really become one of my favorite villains since appearing in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Honestly, before that, he was kind of a joke – a bald guy who just seemed evil for the sake of money. But the Marvel Cinematic Universe version? They really fleshed him out, gave him a reason for his actions, and made him genuinely scary. It’s a much more compelling and terrifying take on the character.
Since the world of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is so similar to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it would be a natural fit to bring the movie version of Vulture into the cartoon as a villain. The show’s Peter Parker, Hudson Thames, could either still be free, or have escaped from prison – either scenario would work well with the character as we know him from the movies.
7. Jessica Jones
The recent Spider-Man movies featured the return of Charlie Cox as Daredevil, a role he became well-known for during his time on the popular Netflix series, now available as part of Disney+’s collection of Marvel’s Defenders shows. Likewise, Krysten Ritter is strongly associated with the character of Jessica Jones, thanks to her acclaimed performance in the award-winning TV series.
The show’s creators initially thought about introducing a younger Jessica Jones as Peter Parker’s close friend. This idea stemmed from their shared history in the comics, where they were depicted as high school classmates in the early 2000s.
By skipping this particular story arc, the show has a great chance to bring adult Jessica into the mix as a helper to Daredevil, especially since he’s expected to reappear after the first season of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man concludes.
6. Iceman
While Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man has a unique style, it draws heavily from past animated Spider-Man series, especially The Spectacular Spider-Man. Looking ahead, the creators could find inspiration in the 1981 show Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends, which teamed Spider-Man up with the heroes Iceman and Firestar.
As a huge movie fan, I was really excited when Iceman showed up again in Iceman #3 back in 2018. While bringing both Iceman and Firestar into the story felt a little too familiar, I think focusing on Iceman alone would be great. I’m especially curious to see how this particular Peter Parker would react to Bobby Drake suddenly becoming part of the family, living with him and Aunt May – that could be a really fun dynamic to explore!
5. Squirrel Girl
In the Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man comic series, Peter Parker is portrayed as the classic, upbeat, and humorous Spider-Man. While his friends are generally more down-to-earth and sometimes even a bit pessimistic, it would be fun to see him paired with someone equally cheerful. I think Squirrel Girl would be a great match.
Squirrel Girl is a really energetic and cheerful character who always looks on the bright side and loves to make people laugh. Since she lives in New York City, she’s crossed paths with Spider-Man several times, and those interactions have always been fun to watch. I’d really like to see them team up together in a future season of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.
4. Electro
The first season of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man hinted at the villain Electro, but he hasn’t shown up as a main bad guy yet. I don’t think he needs to be the villain for an entire season, but he’d be perfect for a single episode or a short story arc lasting two or three episodes.
Because Max Dillon is an Oscorp engineer, the show could first introduce him as a regular character before turning him into a villain – a common approach for Spider-Man’s enemies in the Disney+ series.
Electro has a lot of different versions, which gives the creative team plenty of freedom to design his appearance, powers, and personality. Personally, I’d prefer to see him with his original look, instead of the one from The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
3. Ned Leeds
Ned Leeds is Peter Parker’s close friend and has mainly served as his support person behind the scenes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While he’s a villain, the Hobgoblin, in the comics, the movies don’t seem to be heading in that direction for his character.
I wasn’t really expecting the movie version of Ned Leeds to become a villain, even though I’d enjoy seeing it. The comics explain his turn with brainwashing and a special serum, but it would feel like a real shock – and a bit of a letdown – to see the kind, lovable Ned from the movies become a bad guy.
The current Spider-Man animated series has a great chance to develop a compelling villain out of this character. He’s not connected to Peter Parker as a friend or support person – this version of the story places him at a different high school. Because his personality is still undefined in the Disney+ show, writers could easily establish a believable path for him to become a villain.
2. Cindy Moon
The recent animated film, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, showed that the spider which gave Peter Parker his powers survived. This means there could be other people with spider-like abilities in this universe. We already know Gwen Stacy will appear as Spider-Gwen, so fans are wondering which other ‘spider-people’ might show up in the show.
I’ve always loved Miles Morales as Spider-Man, ever since he first appeared in the comics. However, I’m concerned that including him with Peter and Gwen might make the new show feel too much like Spidey and His Amazing Friends. A good way to avoid that would be to introduce another popular character, Silk.
In the comics, Cindy Moon was bitten by the same spider as Peter Parker, making an appearance of her superhero persona, Silk, in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man a natural fit. It would also be amazing to see Cindy Moon and Gwen Stacy team up and fight alongside each other.
1. White Rabbit
Lorina Dodson, better known as White Rabbit, is a surprisingly overlooked Spider-Man villain. Originally a wealthy woman who grew tired of her life, she committed a crime and used the money to reinvent herself as a flamboyant, Alice-in-Wonderland-themed supervillain, complete with advanced technology. She’s known for being quirky and loves making a big impression.
With the animated series Spider-Man: Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man already featuring some lesser-known villains, adding White Rabbit would be a fun choice. Her quirky personality would be a good fit for the show’s tone, and she actually has a connection to the villain Tombstone in the comic books.
Because Lonnie isn’t currently portrayed as a bad guy, the show could change their relationship with White Rabbit. Typically, White Rabbit takes orders from the main boss, but the Disney+ series could switch things up and have White Rabbit in charge of Lonnie instead.
