Adrienne Bailon-Houghton spills on potential Cheetah Girls reboot… and her relationship with costars now

It’s been over 20 years since Adrienne Bailon-Houghton played Chuchi Simmons in The Cheetah Girls, but she imagines her Disney character would be living a very glamorous life now.

Tamar Braxton-Houghton, 42, recently told Daily Mail that she’s impressed with Chanel Chuchi and how well she’s doing. She shared this while talking about her collaboration with Finish, celebrating the new Finish Ultimate Quantum dishwasher detergent, alongside her mother, Nilda Felix.

I understand people have mentioned the Cheetahs, and I recall reading in the book series that they ultimately achieved great success. Because of that, I’m confident she’s doing very well.

Oh my gosh, those movies! Seriously, they completely changed everything. They were based on Deborah Gregory’s books, and they’re how I first discovered Adrienne Bailon-Houghton! I was instantly obsessed with her, and of course, Raven-Symoné, Sabrina Bryan, Kiely Williams, and the amazing Lynn Whitfield too. Those films made them stars, and honestly, they launched my fandom! I still rewatch them constantly.

Adrienne Bailon-Houghton appeared in all three Cheetah Girls movies, which tell the story of a popular girl group as they navigate the music industry and tour the world. The first film was released in 2003, followed by The Cheetah Girls 2 in 2006 and The Cheetah Girls: One World in 2008.

The movie’s popularity also boosted the careers of the featured pop stars. Each of them went on to release successful albums and go on tour, building on the film’s success.

Following the success of former co-stars like Hilary Duff selling out concert venues and Miley Cyrus revisiting her role as Hannah Montana for the show’s 20th anniversary, Adrienne Bailon-Houghton shared that she’s also considered returning to her former role, either in a movie or on tour.

‘I love the fact that I’ve always said never say never,’ the former talk show host said.

I just want to make sure it’s done correctly. If we’re going to do this, it needs to be done well, and we’ll see what happens.

When Hulu decided not to move forward with the pilot for a new Buffy the Vampire Slayer series, actress Christiana Bailon-Houghton realized that while fans love revisiting old favorites, revivals need to be handled with a lot of thought and care.

Bailon-Houghton pointed out that it’s understandable when fans are let down by reboots that don’t live up to the original, saying, ‘There’s something to be said about people being disappointed when it doesn’t match what it was.’

There’s a worry about damaging the reputation of the franchise. It’s often better to leave audiences wanting more than to risk disappointing them with a sequel that doesn’t live up to expectations.

Reflecting on a possible Cheetah Girls reunion, Adrienne Bailon-Houghton explained, ‘I’ve always felt that sometimes it’s best to leave things as they are – to not try and recreate something special.’

It’s wonderful that people still enjoy it, and I’m especially thrilled that a new generation is discovering it on Disney+. They don’t even realize it isn’t a recent release, which is amazing!

‘They’re watching it and their moms are showing it to them, and I think that that’s amazing.

I believe the way you revive something matters a lot. It’s better to empower a new generation to carry it forward, rather than trying to build it all over again.

It’s still uncertain if Adrienne Bailon-Houghton will sing again for a potential Cheetah Girls revival, but she’s open to the idea of getting the group back together, and she’s especially interested in working with one member in particular.

‘Raven and I are super close, and I absolutely adore her,’ Bailon-Houghton said.

I was able to return to the world of ‘That’s So Raven’ in 2022 with its sequel, ‘Raven’s Home,’ and I played my original character, Alana Rivera – the show’s former bully.

Honestly, getting to come back as the school principal was amazing – a total dream come true! And seriously, if there’s anything I can do to collaborate with Raven, just say the word. I’m completely on board and ready to go – I’m a huge fan, you know?

After recently relocating from Los Angeles to New York City to be near family, Adrienne Bailon-Houghton is enjoying time at home cooking and doing dishes with her three-year-old son, Ever James, and her mother, while she plans her next career step. She’s partnering with Finish to make these everyday moments even better.

Adrienne Bailon-Houghton described the collaboration as a natural fit, highlighting the new dishwashing detergent and its accompanying Finish Cookbook Club. The club will offer cooking classes that combine recipe demonstrations with helpful tips on cleaning up afterwards.

I especially enjoy cooking with my mom. We’re a close family and always work together in the kitchen.

She lives just a short 15-minute drive from me. That’s actually why I decided to move back to New York from Los Angeles. Now that I have a son, I’m so grateful to be near her and enjoy this close-knit community.

It’s been incredibly meaningful for me to watch Bailon-Houghton share her grandmother’s recipes with her son. He’s learning right alongside her, helping out in the kitchen, and it’s just a beautiful thing to see those family traditions being passed down. It feels so special knowing they’re creating those memories together.

It’s wonderful to be able to return the favor to my mom, who taught me so much – even cleaning up! Now I’m excited to show her some new kitchen hacks, like using Finish Ultimate Quantum dishwasher detergent,” the celebrity shared.

She raved about how amazing it was, saying it really worked. She explained that older generations were used to cleaning everything manually, and this was a big change.

That’s so outdated! Just put these in the dishwasher – it’s a two-for-one deal!

You’ll still be able to spend time with your family, like playing with your grandson. And the best part is, everything will be taken care of soon.

“It really does work,” Felix confirmed. “I think what ultimately convinced me was the extra time I get to spend with my family.”

I used to spend all my time washing dishes, both before and after meals. Now, I can actually enjoy time with my family – playing with the kids on the floor – and take care of the dishes when they’re settled. It’s such a relief and makes a huge difference.
