Adam Thomas breaks down and reveals he is in therapy after ‘bullying’ row with David Haye on I’m A Celeb ‘f***ed with him’ – as the boxer shares a vile post reigniting their jungle feud

Adam Thomas became emotional as he shared that he’s been attending therapy since appearing on ‘I’m A Celebrity’ and following a disagreement with David Haye, which left him feeling deeply upset.

The 37-year-old actress from Waterloo Road and 45-year-old boxer David had a difficult relationship while filming in the South African jungle last September.

Following a recent online argument with David, Adam has shared that he’s now seeking therapy to cope with the fallout.

Adam openly shared with his brothers, Scott and Ryan, on their podcast, At Home With The Thomas Bros, that the situation had deeply upset him.

Adam became emotional and explained that the experience felt like being back in school, where someone was deliberately trying to upset him. While he didn’t want to label it as bullying, he felt mentally manipulated and distressed.

I regret not standing up for myself while I was in that situation. Thinking about it now, that regret hurts more than anything else that happened.

Adam explained that his time in the jungle fundamentally changed him. He’s certain he’s a different person now than he was before going in, and he doesn’t think that’s an exaggeration.

I’m currently in therapy because this whole situation has really messed with my head. I keep thinking, ‘How could this be happening to me? I’m a grown man, 37 years old.’ I’m struggling with how I allowed someone else to have this kind of impact on me.

He explained that normally, if someone didn’t like you, you’d simply walk away. But in this situation, there was no escape, so you had to put up with it and try to stay positive.

Adam shared that he asked his therapist why he struggled to stand up for himself. The therapist explained that he consistently prioritized others’ needs over his own, and avoided sharing his own difficulties because he didn’t want to be the center of attention.

Adam described how he repeatedly let David insult him until he finally reached his limit. He said he just kept taking the abuse until he felt he couldn’t handle any more.

I told him, “I can’t continue this conversation unless you apologize for your actions.” I then explained everything he’d done wrong, and he was fully aware of why he’d behaved that way.

I asked him if he wasn’t going to apologize, and he said he was trying to teach me a lesson. I told him I didn’t need a lesson from him.

Adam said once David was eliminated it felt like a ‘huge weight had lifted’ and he ‘could breathe’.  

He also mentioned that David had apologized, explaining to his brothers that the boxer is actually a very kind person.

He acts tough, but I know he’s actually a good person. He shared his story with me and helped me understand where he’s coming from.

Just before Adam publicly addressed the bullying claims, David attacked him again online with another harsh comment.

Okay, so David just completely blew my mind! He posted this insane picture on social media last night – it was AI-generated, which is wild enough, but it was him in his boxing shorts, giving the finger! Like, a super intense, serious middle finger. I seriously screenshotted it immediately. It’s…everything. I can’t stop thinking about it!

The image is accompanied by audio of Adam telling David, during a conversation at camp, “I don’t have a problem with anyone else, you’re the only one I’m having an issue with right now.”

Viewers complained about David’s behavior after Adam, who has psoriatic arthritis, shared on last Friday’s show that he was too unwell to take part in the ‘Termite Terror’ challenge.

The boxer confronted him, saying he didn’t care that the man wasn’t feeling well, stating he was an adult and shouldn’t be acting helpless. He expressed his dislike for people who seemed incapable of taking care of themselves.

‘I hate them useless guys. He is useless.’

When Adam decided to withdraw from the challenge, he said he wouldn’t eat dinner, but his fellow campers wouldn’t allow him to skip the meal.

David then spoke up, suggesting he receive a slightly smaller share than the others.

Adam was upset with David’s response to the amount of food he was given, and he demanded to speak with him privately, saying, ‘Let’s go outside and talk about this.’

Honestly, it was a bit awkward at dinner. David was clearly frustrated, saying we didn’t get the deal we’d hoped for as dessert arrived. Thankfully, Scarlett Moffatt stepped in and quickly diffused the situation, telling everyone to just let it go. It was a good move – sometimes you just need to call a truce!

Ant and Dec, the hosts of ‘I’m A Celebrity,’ admitted they felt uneasy with some of the conversations that took place on the show’s companion series, ‘Unpacked.’

Ant said: ‘It’s not a nice watch. He just kind of picks and picks at them.

Adam is really struggling and the constant teasing is overwhelming him. Unfortunately, David continues to push it, even though it’s clear Adam can’t handle it.

Dec agreed: ‘It’s kind of crossed the line from banter. I don’t find it comfortable to watch.’ 

After leaving camp, David explained his history with Adam, saying there were no hard feelings. He shared that he’d grown up in the intense world of boxing, starting at age ten, where he trained and fought daily, often against much larger opponents. He pushed himself to his physical and mental limits, and ultimately achieved a major accomplishment by winning the world heavyweight championship against a very tall Russian fighter.

It feels strange when someone tells me that enjoying a well-paying job – even if it’s demanding – is the most difficult experience of their life. It’s a perspective I just don’t relate to.

‘I was actually on my best behaviour there, honestly.’
