Swimmer Adam Peaty spent two weeks training intensely with his coach, Mel, in Queensland, and publicly acknowledged her impact on his success.
Swimmer Duncan Scott, 31, and his coach Melanie Marshall ended their 15-year working relationship after the 2024 Paris Olympics.
She moved to the Gold Coast to lead the high-performance swimming program at Griffith University, working with Swimming Australia.
Adam recreated an old photo from ten years ago, praising his trainer for helping him become the person he is today. He did this after choosing to thank his coach instead of his family during his wedding speech to Holly Ramsay.
He shared a heartfelt message reflecting on a connection spanning over 15 years, reminiscing about February 2026 and February 2016. He expressed gratitude to Mel Marshall for her significant influence on who he is today and how much he enjoyed spending two weeks with her. He also celebrated her success and cherished the lasting memories they’ve created together.
Together, they significantly shaped the breaststroke technique, and Adam is widely regarded as one of the best short-distance breaststroke swimmers ever.
As a lifestyle expert, I’m always inspired by incredible athletes, and this one is no exception! After already achieving so much with six Olympic medals, he’s setting his sights on competing again – first at the 2026 Commonwealth Games and then aiming for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. It’s amazing to see that kind of dedication and drive!
This post follows a message from Adam’s mother, Caroline, about difficult times, which she shared on Monday. It came after Gordon Ramsay responded to accusations that he had been bullying someone.
Olympic athlete Adam married Holly, the 26-year-old daughter of a well-known TV chef, in December at Bath Abbey. The wedding took place during a family disagreement, resulting in Adam’s mother being uninvited and only his sister Bethany present from his side of the family.
During his speech, Adam focused on his swim coach, Mel, calling her his biggest influence and source of support, and didn’t mention his family or parents. He credited Mel with keeping him grounded and motivated.
Following accusations from the Peaty family that he was a ‘bully’ – a claim he responded to by saying their disagreement was their own doing – Gordon, 59, strongly refuted their statements, calling them untrue and claiming they were unfairly critical.
Caroline recently posted a peaceful sunset photo with a heartfelt message: ‘You show that even after difficult times, it’s possible to remain kind, positive, genuine, and loving.’
The chef responded to the family’s claims last week, telling The Sun he is definitely not a bully and was shocked by the suggestion that he had engaged in bullying behavior. He recently walked his daughter down the aisle.
That’s completely untrue. It was upsetting to witness their own negativity spiraling out of control.
‘But Adam is an incredible young lad and he and Holly are a wonderful, happy, young couple.’
Gordon Ramsay previously stated to the Daily Mail that he and his wife, Tana, hadn’t done anything wrong and had treated the Peaty family exceptionally well leading up to their son’s wedding, despite what some reports have claimed.
But one relative claimed the TV chef had now ‘pushed the family too far’.
They said: ‘How bl***y dare they. The sheer gall of them’.
The Ramsays were deliberately cold to Caroline, essentially acting as if she didn’t matter to them. They completely ignored her, and Mrs. Ramsay never even bothered to respond to her messages.
They also revealed that the celebratory lunch promised after the engagement never actually happened.
The Daily Mail contacted Gordon Ramsay’s representatives for comment.
According to reports, the family has lost hope of repairing their relationship with their son following a recent comment he made on social media.
In a comment on Adam’s wedding video, the chef jokingly called himself ‘dad,’ responding to the Olympian’s sweet message that he’d ‘always choose’ his wife, Holly.
A source close to the family said it’s been a very difficult and emotional period for everyone. They are still processing the situation and accepting that Adam has made his decision.
This has ended any chance of them getting back together anytime soon. Both sides are now focused on moving forward and avoiding further conflict. Adam has clearly decided what he wants, and it doesn’t involve reconciliation.
According to The Sun, Gordon Ramsay complimented his daughter’s appearance in his wedding speech, jokingly telling his son-in-law, Adam, ‘That’s what you have to look forward to’ when referring to his wife, Tana.
The article also reported that he made a hurtful comment to his daughter, Holly, about her father not being present, saying, ‘It’s a shame you don’t have the same [situation].’
The swimmer’s mother was reportedly very upset and hurt that Ramsay mentioned their disagreement in his speech.
