As a lifestyle expert with over two decades of personal and professional experience in the beauty and skincare industry, I find myself constantly advocating for ethical and responsible choices when it comes to our self-care routines. The recent controversy surrounding Abbie Chatfield’s partnership with CeraVe, a brand owned by L’Oréal, serves as an important reminder of the power we hold as consumers to make a difference through our purchasing decisions.

Abbie Chatfield has been slammed after revealing her her biggest makeup faux pas.

29-year-old The Bachelor star shared thoughts about her past sleeping habits involving makeup, expressed on Instagram during the weekend.

In a promotional video endorsing skincare brand CeraVe, the social media personality once posted a picture from 2016 showing herself with heavily applied makeup (referred to as “full beat” makeup), explaining that she would typically wear this style while working in the hospitality industry.

‘Please tell me I’m not the only one who slept in this level of makeup,’ Abbie said in the video.

Not only would I sleep in it, but I’d try to remove it with the strongest cleaning agents the following morning, hoping it would help. However, this action would likely cause irritation under my eyes, resulting in dermatitis.

The show’s host continued by mentioning that she relies on CeraVe for taking care of her skin after removing her makeup.

In contrast, the influencer’s followers expressed their disapproval, criticizing her for partnering with that particular brand in the comment section.

Many suggested the brand’s parent company L’Oréal was on the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) list against Israel – and also called them out for animal testing.

‘Isn’t this BDS? And they test on animals anyway,’ the fan said.

‘Love you but boycotting L’Oréal due to their ties to Israel,’ another comment read.

One political supporter remarked, ‘You mentioned long ago that you are very cautious about whom you associate with, so I’m wondering if you might not be aware, but the company [CeraVe], owned by L’Oréal, conducts animal testing and has connections to Israel (eww).’

Others raised their ethical concerns about the brand’s alleged animal testing.

Another person was taken aback when they found out you chose Australia’s top all-natural, cruelty-free skincare items instead!

A fan proposed initiating a discussion where individuals could share their favorite skincare products from ethically-minded small enterprises.

A different author stated: ‘Beautiful Abby, CeraVe is a brand owned by L’Oreal. Although L’Oreal is not included in the formal BDS list, some pro-Palestinian campaigners have decided to boycott it due to the company being labeled as “a friendly ally of Israel.” I’m unsure about where that label originated.’

At the time of writing, Abbie has not responded to any of these criticisms in her comments.

Daily Mail Australia has reached out to Abbie Chatfield for comment.
