A Quiet Place’s Official New Series is Already Here, and It’s Glorious

I’ve been a huge fan of A Quiet Place since the first movie came out almost eight years ago! It’s amazing how what started as a small, personal horror film has grown into something really special. Now, they’re expanding the story with a comic book from IDW called A Quiet Place: Storm Warning, written by Phil Hester with art by Ryan Kelly, and I can’t wait to see where they take it!

Following the June 2024 release of A Quiet Place: Day One, A Quiet Place: Storm Warning was announced in October of the same year. Set in the town of Pearl, Iowa, this new installment continues the story of survival in a world overrun by alien creatures. And for fans eager for more before the next Quiet Place film arrives in summer 2027, a comic book series has already launched with its first issue available now.

A Quiet Place: Storm Warning Raises the Bar

The appeal of A Quiet Place relies heavily on its characters and the world they live in, and the limited series A Quiet Place: Storm Warning excels in both these areas. The intense isolation creates a truly unsettling atmosphere, giving the show a strong foundation to build upon.

The comic book A Quiet Place: Storm Warning uses flashbacks and flash-forwards to tell its story. A clever part of how it’s written is its use of sound effects – onomatopoeia – because it’s hard to tell how loud things are otherwise. Plus, the whole series is relatively short, only five issues long.

A Quiet Place is on an Upswing

The success of A Quiet Place has been driven by its films, and fans are eagerly awaiting A Quiet Place 3, scheduled for release on June 30, 2027. Before that, though, many are excited to see what happens in A Quiet Place: Storm Warning. If you’re new to the series, here’s a preview of what the first issue of A Quiet Place: Storm Warning will be about:

The world ended in a hush.

When strange creatures began attacking cities, the people of Pearl, Iowa – a small town on the Mississippi River – assumed they were safe. Isolated from the widespread panic, they hoped to avoid the danger. However, Fire Chief Lonnie Fry fears this is a mistake. He knows the sound-sensitive creatures are heading their way, and that staying quiet won’t protect Pearl – it will ultimately lead to its destruction.

The world of the hit movie A Quiet Place expands in this brand-new comic series, brought to life by acclaimed creators Phil Hester (known for Green Arrow and Swamp Thing) and Ryan Kelly (Lucifer, Local). This story reveals a previously unseen tale of fear, family, and the sacrifices they make to survive.

The movie A Quiet Place has expanded into a video game, A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead, showing that the story has a lot more potential than just films. A TV series would be a great way to delve deeper into the characters, and a comic book format also seems like a natural fit for the franchise.
