The BBC is launching a new thriller today called The Rapture. It’s based on the popular novel by Liz Jensen, was filmed in Wales, and stars Ruth Madeley (known from Years and Years) and India Amarteifo (Queen Charlotte).
I’m so excited about this new show! It’s being described as a really intense, gripping thriller. The story centers around Gabs Fox, a forensic psychologist who takes on a new role working with patients in a super secure facility – sounds like things are going to get dangerous fast!
She encounters Bethany Krall, a 17-year-old who was found guilty of killing her mother, but Bethany insists she didn’t do it.
She also claims to be psychic, and has the ability to see the future.
Bethany’s life is complicated by several factors: her father, Leonard, heads a powerful religious group, and the city is filled with demonstrators. Could these events be related to her situation? Is Bethany actually blameless, and if she is, then who was responsible for her mother’s death, and what was their motive?

Honestly, if the big questions and secrets don’t grab you, I was really happy to see some characters I already knew pop up as sidekicks! It felt good to reconnect with them while exploring everything else.
I was so excited to see the cast list! It includes Iwan Rheon, who I loved as Ramsay in Game of Thrones, Ruth Jones from Gavin & Stacey (she’s hilarious!), Jack Farthing who starred in Poldark, Sam Hazeldine who was great in season 2 of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, and Stephen Campbell Moore, known for The History Boys. What a fantastic group of actors!

With complex and fascinating characters, and a story centered around climate change, The Rapture is a truly captivating drama, and I’m excited for BBC audiences to experience it.
If you’re tuning in to watch The Rapture on BBC One, here’s when the episodes will air: Episode 1 is tonight at 9 PM, and Episode 2 is tomorrow night at 9 PM.
So, episodes 3 and 4 are dropping next week just like before. But unfortunately, there’s no word yet on when the last episode – number five – will be released. They haven’t announced a date as of today.
