Okay, let’s talk about Loki Season 2. While the show remains one of the strongest Marvel series Disney+ has put out – seriously, it’s good – I was a little disappointed with how they handled a character I really loved from Season 1. They brought them back, but honestly, didn’t give them much to do. A big reason the first season worked so well was introducing characters like Sylvie, played brilliantly by Sophia Di Martino, and I was hoping for more of that impact this time around.
Sylvie first appeared in Season 1 of Loki as another version of the character. Because of a difficult past, she rejected her identity as a Loki, chose the name Sylvie, and became determined to dismantle the Time Variance Authority (TVA) and allow different universes to exist freely. She appeared to succeed in the Season 1 finale by betraying Loki, eliminating He Who Remains, and leaving the timeline unprotected. However, achieving her goal damaged her developing relationship with Loki and created a complex situation for Season 2.
Despite a promising start, Sylvie’s storyline in Season 2 of Loki felt uneven and ultimately didn’t live up to expectations for her character.

I was really fascinated by Sylvie in the early episodes of Loki. It was so unexpected to see her working at a McDonald’s in another timeline! She clearly valued this ordinary life, even fighting to protect it and refusing Loki’s help. What I found intriguing, though, was that the show didn’t really explain why she was so attached to this simple existence, or why she’d choose it over everything else – even the vast Multiverse and a possible connection with Loki.
Over the next episodes, Sylvie’s goals stay much the same as they were in Season 1, even as the fallout from her past actions becomes clear and the Multiverse starts to collapse. Even after losing the universe she briefly enjoyed – including her favorite McDonald’s – Sylvie remains determined to destroy the TVA and Victor Timely, even if it means destroying everything – including herself – in the process.
This creates a conflict with Loki, positioning her as an antagonist in the show, which upset a lot of viewers, especially those who wanted to see Loki and Sylvie fall in love.

Throughout the series, Sylvie often feels like a follower, simply tagging along on Loki’s journey or acting as his goal. Even when she does take initiative, her development feels unclear, especially as the show repeatedly resets the timeline and revisits earlier versions of the characters due to Loki’s time-traveling abilities.
Throughout Season 2 of Loki, Sylvie, though still a key character, didn’t have as prominent a role as she did in Season 1. The season largely focused on Loki’s own development, which was well-executed, but it meant Sylvie’s story didn’t get the same depth or attention.
Sylvie and Loki’s relationship didn’t have a clear resolution. In the final scene, Sylvie said goodbye to Mobius and then walked through a time portal, leaving her future and plans a mystery.
Though Di Martino reprised her role as Sylvie in Season 2 of Loki, the season didn’t fully explore the captivating qualities her character displayed in Season 1. Despite this, there’s still potential for Sylvie to find a path to redemption within the broader Marvel Cinematic Universe.
What Is Sylvie’s MCU Future After ‘Loki’?

Even though the Disney+ series Loki has finished with its second season, because the Marvel Cinematic Universe is so connected, its characters could show up in future movies or shows whenever needed.
Fans are speculating that Sylvie might show up in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie. With Tom Hiddleston confirmed to reprise his role as Loki, there’s a possibility the film could continue the storyline between Loki and Sylvie.
The next Avengers movie will likely explore the Multiverse in a big way, building on storylines from the Loki series. Because Sylvie has a deep understanding of the Multiverse and the TVA, she could be a valuable ally in the upcoming Avengers film, potentially bringing actress Sophia Di Martino back to the role.
Although it’s not official yet, rumors suggest that several familiar faces will return in Avengers: Doomsday, and it’s possible that Sylvie, as played by Di Martino, could be among them.
