After a four-year hiatus, the thrilling series The Capture is back with its third season, and it started with a shocking, explosive opening. Series creator Ben Chanan recently discussed this impactful beginning in a new interview.

The third season of the show begins with the episode ‘Don’t Look at the Camera’, where Rachel Carey (Holliday Grainger) prepares to activate Operation Veritas. This new camera technology is designed to instantly detect deepfakes and assist in preventing terrorism.
So, Isaac Turner, the Home Secretary – remember him? He was the one who got deepfaked back in season two. Well, things took a really dark turn – he got shot. It was a total shock, and honestly, a really rough moment for everyone.

When a man dies, Carey becomes determined to find his killer. However, all the video evidence has been altered to mislead investigators, leaving her to wonder if justice will ever be served.
Chanan told Radio Times that Turner’s death was meant to kickstart the season’s main storyline, but hinted there’s a deeper, in-universe reason behind it that will be revealed later in the season.
He explained that the character’s departure in episode 6 was driven by external factors, but ultimately served to set up Carey’s future storyline.
Carey clearly connected with Isaac and felt a strong affection for him, with a hint of romantic tension between them. Therefore, when he’s tragically killed, it deeply affects her – it’s not just a professional loss, but a personal one.
As a fan, I was totally shocked to find out that the person who killed Turner seems to be Carey’s new boss, Noah Pierson – played by Killian Scott! It’s a crazy twist and makes things so much more personal for her.
It will be difficult for her to win people over, but Chanan believes the main character is strong and self-assured.
