After a three-year wait, Apple TV+ is releasing a new season of its hit show, Ted Lasso. Starring Jason Sudeikis as Ted Lasso, Brendan Hunt as Coach Beard, and Hannah Waddingham as Rebecca Welton, season four will continue the story.
Ted and his team are returning to England for more funny and dramatic moments centered around football. This season, a major storyline will be the creation of a women’s football team for AFC Richmond, giving Ted a new challenge: helping these players reach their full potential.
A key storyline to look forward to in Season 4 involves Coach Willis Beard, who chose to remain in England and help coach AFC Richmond with Roy Kent and Nathan Shelley. While details about his future are still unknown, fans are eager to see what happens with his character when the show returns.
Apple TV+ shared a quick 19-second teaser for the fourth season of Ted Lasso, this time focusing on Coach Beard (Brendan Hunt). The video shows Beard at his desk, intently studying a book called Soccerwomen by author Gemma Clarke – seemingly researching women’s soccer. He doesn’t say anything, but briefly looks to his left before returning to his reading, all while wearing his familiar AFC Richmond gear.
This book, now available for sale, tells the story of women’s soccer, tracing its roots back over 300 years to the Scottish Highlands – where the earliest documented matches took place. It also highlights the achievements of modern-day stars like Mia Hamm and Abby Wambach, as well as Marta, and how they’ve inspired a new generation of female soccer players globally.

The last time viewers saw Coach Beard, he was heading to Kansas, leaving Ted to return to AFC Richmond and his football duties. He also finally married Jane (Phoebe Walsh), despite their often turbulent relationship, which will likely be a focus in Season 4. Before leaving, he shared his personal history in a touching scene with Nate and ultimately forgave Nate for his actions against Ted and the team.
Coach Beard will likely continue to be his usual self – thoughtful, witty, and a source of guidance for his players. Taking on a women’s team presents a new challenge, but his proven track record of success with the men’s team should help him adapt smoothly.
Although we’re still learning about the upcoming season of Ted Lasso, Roy Kent is expected to play a major role, both in his football career and personal life, as he continues to grow and evolve.
Ted Lasso Season 4 will debut on Apple TV+ in August 2026.
