A K-pop star has revealed how she was once verbally abused on the set of a Korean TV series.
Nam Jihyun, age 36, first became well-known as part of the popular girl group 4Minute, and she later also found success as an actress.
Jihyun recently shared a story on the Hwang Bora Boraiety YouTube channel about a time a director treated her poorly while filming a Korean drama.
During the filming of her first K-drama, while still a member of the group 4Minute, the camera director reportedly told her, “Hey, get in front!” according to a translation by Koreaboo.
‘I thought, “Okay, I’ll handle this with positive energy,” so I responded brightly, “Here comes the ugly b*tch,”‘ she continued.
‘Then he laughed and said, “Haha, look at this b*tch.”
The director apologized to Jihyun, but it turned out he’d thought she was someone else – someone not as well-known.
She said he apologized, explaining that he hadn’t known she was a member of 4Minute. He’d assumed she was a new actress and was trying to see how she’d react under pressure.
4Minute was a highly successful K-pop group in the early 2010s, and it was around this time that Jihyun began her career as an actress.
She’s appeared in more than a dozen Korean dramas and several films, but recently she changed careers and now works as a Pilates instructor.
I’m so proud to say she’s finally opened her own barre studio! It’s become incredibly popular, and I’ve even spotted a bunch of famous Korean celebrities and K-pop stars taking her classes. It’s amazing to see her dream come true and attract such a fantastic clientele.
Last year, Hyuna, who used to be in the group 4Minute, received international attention when she fainted while performing at a music festival.
During a performance of her song “Bubble Pop” at the Waterbomb Festival in Macau last November, the 33-year-old singer began to feel unwell while performing the song’s dance routine.
The disturbing video shows her moving her hips slowly and turning, before falling to the ground.
Dancers and a security guard quickly helped her when she collapsed, carrying her off the stage.
She lost a significant amount of weight – 10kg (22lbs) – in only a month by following a very strict diet, and she collapsed shortly after.
Hyuna has publicly discussed her health problems, which stem from a long-term struggle with eating disorders.
The K-pop star, who began her career at age 15, has revealed she once restricted her diet to just one piece of sushi daily in an effort to maintain a weight of 40 kilograms (88 pounds).
4Minute debuted in 2009 with the single ‘Hot Issue’.
Over the next seven years, they released a series of incredibly popular K-pop songs, with ‘Whatcha Doin’ Today?’ and ‘What’s Your Name?’ both reaching number one.
The group stopped working together in 2016 when their contract ended. Hyuna then continued her career as a successful solo artist.
