Jesy Nelson became emotional while explaining she kept quiet about her time in Little Mix because she was the one who decided to leave the group.
Jesy Nelson rose to fame with Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jade Thirlwall, and Perrie Edwards as part of the group Little Mix. They first became well-known on the show The X Factor in 2011.
After winning the show, the singer faced cruel online criticism about her appearance, which negatively affected her mental well-being. This led her to leave the band in 2020.
Jesy Nelson shared her feelings about leaving Little Mix in a preview of her upcoming documentary, “Jesy Nelson: Life After Little Mix,” which will be released on February 13th.
You know, I’ve been watching the trailer, and it’s incredibly moving. It starts with Jesy looking out at an empty stadium, and she shares something really vulnerable: she’s never talked about this before. It really hits home how much she just wanted to bring joy to others – that was always her driving force, simply to entertain people.
It was pure magic at first, I swear! Everything felt… perfect. But then, just as quickly, it all fell apart. I’ve never really talked about it, not truly, because… well, I was the one who walked away. And that’s always felt like my burden to carry, you know?
The video shows a collection of clips from Perrie Edwards’ time in Little Mix, including moments where she’s visibly upset and unable to participate in dance rehearsals.
‘I’ve really struggled keeping all of this in… Now I’m ready to tell my side of the story.’
Jesy Nelson’s former mentor, Tulisa Contostavlos, appears briefly in the documentary and reflects on Jesy’s difficulties, saying that when you’re determined to achieve something, it’s easy to overlook the potential downsides.
The documentary series focuses on a very difficult period in her life, following her path to becoming a mother. It details the complications she experienced during pregnancy, including Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome, and the birth of her twin daughters, Ocean Jade and Story Monroe, who were later diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA1).
The documentary also shows a heartbreaking scene where Jesy and her former fiancé, Zion Foster, learn from a doctor that their twin daughters have only a 5% chance of surviving until birth.
Even though reports say they’ve broken up, Zion showed his support for Jesy by sharing the trailer for her new project on Instagram.
I’m so thrilled to finally share something I’ve been working on! You can now find it streaming on Prime Video UK and Navy Bee TV. Honestly, the last year and a half has been quite a ride, but seeing this come to life makes it all worthwhile.
When Jess Nelson and I began working on this project, we had no idea what the future held. Seeing it all come together and being able to document the process feels truly meant to be. The show is genuine, real, and honest.
Starting a new family was incredibly stressful and challenging. We went through some difficult times, but we’re proud to have come this far. We feel like this is just the first step in a long and exciting journey.
We’re hoping for clear direction, calm hearts, and positive development as we work through current difficulties, and to provide the strongest possible support for Ocean and Story. We trust that things will unfold as they should.
In the trailer, Jesy’s mother, Janice, shares her fears after seeing how difficult her daughter’s pregnancy has been, saying, ‘If something went wrong now, I can’t imagine how awful it would be.’ Little does she know what’s about to happen.
Jesy said the documentary is so painful to watch following her twins’ diagnosis.
As someone who closely follows Spinal Muscular Atrophy research, I know Type 1 is the most serious form. It usually shows up in babies, and it’s heartbreaking – it causes severe muscle weakness, making it hard to swallow and breathe. It’s a really tough condition for families.
Jesy is now working to have babies screened for Spinal Muscular Atrophy type 1 (SMA1) shortly after birth. She’s started a petition to include the condition in the standard newborn blood screening test, which is done using a simple heel prick.
Jesy, who is pregnant with twins, shares her honest feelings about the happiness, challenges, and anxieties of expecting two babies.
The series documents Jesy’s difficult pregnancy, including a rare and dangerous condition called Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome, and the emotional challenges she faced.
Jesy is going through the ups and downs of pregnancy, with regular hospital check-ups and honest talks with family and friends. She’s facing her fears and discovering a surprising inner strength, all with the constant love and support of those closest to her.
This series isn’t just about her experience as a new mother; she’s also facing her past. She’ll be talking openly for the first time about leaving Little Mix in 2020, and the intense pressures of being famous. She’ll also discuss her struggles with mental health and the issues that came up afterward.
Before becoming a mom, Jesy shared with Amazon that she’s excited to share her journey as she prepares to welcome her twin daughters, Ocean and Story. She’s looking forward to letting everyone see what life is like as a first-time parent.
To be honest, this pregnancy has been really challenging due to the high risk involved. You’ll see all the ups and downs, and the emotional journey we’ve experienced.
I’m excited to share this new phase of my life with you all, as I leave the past behind and embrace what’s next. I truly hope you enjoy following along as much as we’re enjoying it!
