EastEnders star Melissa Suffield poses in her white strapless wedding dress and leopard print heels for new snaps with husband Robert Brendan and son River after eloping to Las Vegas for surprise nuptials

EastEnders actress Melissa Suffield recently posted photos from her secret wedding! She and her partner, Robert Brendan, eloped to Las Vegas, six years after having to cancel their original wedding plans because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 33-year-old actress, known for her role as Lucy Beale in the popular soap opera, announced last week that she and her partner had gotten married in a small ceremony. Only their six-year-old son, River, was there to witness the event, which took place at the famous Little White Wedding Chapel.

Melissa recently posted a series of sweet photos from her wedding on Instagram, revealing her beautiful white strapless dress and veil.

She boldly broke with tradition, choosing eye-catching leopard print platform shoes and coordinating sunglasses.

Robert looked sharp in a black outfit, and River was incredibly cute in a tiny tuxedo. Both were wearing sunglasses and happily posed for pictures together.

Oh my gosh, you guys, Melissa just posted the most amazing photos! She said they’re her new favorites EVER, and she’s teasing that she’ll share all the details about their big surprise day soon! Apparently, they’re finally back from their trip – she even admitted they’re totally jet-lagged, poor thing – and now she’ll have time to answer all our questions! I’m literally dying to know what happened! It’s going to be SO good!

I’ve been so busy, the trip was packed with activities! It feels like we’ve been married for ages already! Now, does anyone have suggestions for how to pass the time while we’re waiting for our official wedding photos to come back?

Okay, I’ll be honest, waiting is really hard for me! My phone managed to snap a few pics, but I’m so eager to see the professional photos – I can barely stand it!

She announced last week that she and her partner got married unexpectedly. They had gotten engaged in 2019, but had to cancel their original wedding due to COVID-19.

Melissa wrote: ‘They say what happens in Vegas… After having to postpone our wedding due to Covid six years ago, we finally decided it was time to make it official!’

We’re having so much fun, just being ourselves! I can’t wait to tell you all about the rest of our trip, but right now we’re heading to California! Talk to you soon!

The couple announced their wedding with a cute video collage showing them dressed as Barbie and Ken, and included a doll that looked just like their child, River.

The dolls recreated a video of the couple sitting in the famous pink car at the chapel. This venue is well-known for hosting fast celebrity weddings, and is particularly famous for its “Drive-Thru Tunnel of Vows,” where couples can quickly and spontaneously get married.

Many famous people, such as Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland, Mickey Rooney, Michael Jordan, Dame Joan Collins, Britney Spears, Bruce Willis, and Demi Moore, have gotten married at this chapel.

In 2020, Melissa shared that after her initial wedding plans fell through, she decided she wanted a simple and relaxed ceremony when she finally got married.

She wasn’t sure when things would finally happen, but they’d already planned a party, as she wasn’t very traditional. She definitely didn’t want a large church wedding with lots of guests – that just wasn’t her style.

It’s clear our planned party will have to be postponed. When it does happen, River will be a key part of the ceremony with us. I see this less as two people joining together, and more as building a family.

Melissa, known as ‘The Confident Mama’ on Instagram, inspires others by openly sharing her journey with body positivity and motherhood.

After being let go from her role as Lucy on the BBC soap in 2007 due to behavioral issues, she began building a career on Instagram. She had played Lucy from 2004 until 2010.

After being let go, she publicly criticized the decision, explaining that she hadn’t engaged in any outrageous or unacceptable behavior. She clarified she hadn’t done anything like physically attacking people or behaving in a highly inappropriate manner.

I’m just behaving like a typical seventeen-year-old. I’m not trying to justify my actions, but compared to everything Lucy has done, drinking before the legal age is the only thing I’ve done wrong.

Melissa recently shared that a mysterious illness over the past two years caused significant, unwanted weight loss and led to feelings of anxiety and isolation.

She shared on Instagram in December that it had been two years since her health issues started. She explained she’d spent around £20,000 on medical care trying to find out what was wrong, and was eventually diagnosed with Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth, or SIBO.

Melissa has openly discussed her health challenges with her followers and has also showcased her impressive three-stone weight loss on social media.

Okay, so I’ve been researching this a lot, and basically SIBO is when the bad bacteria that should be in your large intestine just…take over the small intestine. It’s like they’re having a party in there with all the food you eat, and it’s not a fun party. This fermentation causes awful stuff like bloating, stomach pain, and just…constant diarrhea. It’s seriously debilitating, and I’m so worried about it!

She shared on Instagram that today was a difficult day, marking two years since she and her son, River, were both sick with an infection that later caused her SIBO.

I started feeling sick the very next day, and I’ve been unwell ever since. I keep replaying that day in my mind, wondering what might have happened if we’d made different choices – if we hadn’t taken the train, or if we’d stayed home instead of eating out.
