Charli XCX playfully teased Gordon Ramsay during their appearance on Friday night’s episode of The Graham Norton Show.
The 33-year-old singer and the 59-year-old chef were on the talk show to discuss their new projects: The Moment and Being Gordon Ramsay.
But conversation soon turned to Charli’s hit album BRAT and the phenomenon that became BRAT summer.
Gordon Ramsay’s daughters enjoyed the recording, and when Graham Norton asked if they reminded him of his famously fiery persona, ‘Brat,’ Gordon responded that it was simply their strong attitude. He added with a laugh, ‘They’re very loud! I think as you get older, you prefer things a bit quieter.’
Charli immediately defended her album, BRAT, and playfully criticized the chef, suggesting they could have gotten inspiration from her work.
The crowd cheered wildly, and Gordon burst out laughing when Benicio del Toro, Jennifer Garner, and Dave Grohl came to join him on the sofa.
The Moment, a new film coming out in 2026, is a funny and realistic look behind the scenes of pop stardom. Starring Charli xcx, it’s a mockumentary that shows the pressures of fame, the craziness of the music industry, and how much advertising influences a singer’s career.
Being Gordon Ramsay is a documentary series that showcases the renowned chef as he launches and manages his five restaurants. It also offers a glimpse into his personal life, following his relationship with his wife, Tana, and their family of six children.
Critics have described the new movie, The Moment, as confusing and poorly executed, comparing it unfavorably to the film Spice World and calling it generally depressing.
This fake documentary features Charli playing a character based on herself, with a story created by the singer.
I’m so excited about this project! Joining the incredibly talented Charlotte Aitchison – you probably know her as Dua Lipa! – are some fantastic actors: Rosanna Arquette, Jamie Demetriou, and Alexander Skarsgård. They’re all playing original characters created just for this!
Directed by Aidan Zamiri, the film blends footage from Charli’s Brat tour with fictional scenes showing what happened behind the scenes.
Since The Moment’s release last month, critics have delivered their verdict on the film.
In a review for The Huntington News, Isabela Morales praised Charli XCX’s “The Moment” as a successful risk. Morales wrote that the film proves Charli XCX doesn’t need to conform to expectations – she doesn’t owe audiences a flawless concert movie, a neat resolution, or even complete honesty.
However, ScreenRant’s Gregory Nussen described The Moment as a ‘horribly misguided mockumentary.’
He described the film as an unusual mix of the mockumentary This Is Spinal Tap and the anxiety-driven Uncut Gems. While that combination sounds potentially exciting, most of the movie focuses on the artist XCX portraying a detached version of herself. We see her briefly struggle with the pressures of commercial success and maintaining her artistic identity while trying to stay true to her creative vision.
Honestly, nothing about this movie works. To put it bluntly, ‘The Moment’ is a complete failure. It’s incredibly presumptuous to create a film with no real tension or consequences, and that comes across as either shockingly arrogant or just completely clueless.
Aidan Zamiri is a skilled music video director who’s worked with major artists, but his first attempt at directing a fictional narrative feels inexperienced.
In a review for NME, Nick Levine wrote that Charli XCX portrays a more frustrated and complex version of herself throughout the work.
The actress’s understated delivery works well for the role, and she’s particularly impressive during a tense exchange with social media star Kylie Jenner, who suggests she make the most of her current opportunity.
While not a perfect mockumentary due to its length and inconsistent tone, ‘The Moment’ still delivers plenty of funny, shareable clips that are likely to become popular on TikTok.
According to BFI’s Nicolas Rapold, the singer truly shines during performance rehearsals, and the film boasts a strong cast including Rachel Sennott and Kate Berlant. However, the movie loses its way when the plot introduces a poorly conceived bank card promotion tied to the Brat TV show, ultimately failing to be either smartly funny or meaningfully insightful.
