The period drama Dangerous Liaisons, featuring Lesley Manville and Paloma Faith, is now available on a new streaming service in the UK. This series tells the story of how Camille (Alice Englert) and Pascal (Nicholas Denton) fall in love during the French Revolution in the 1790s, and it acts as a prequel to the famous novel of the same name.
Harriet Warner created this historical drama, which first aired on Starz in 2022. While it was originally picked up for another season, that decision was changed, and the show was cancelled.
Even though the show hasn’t been renewed and producers tried to bring it back on a different network, all eight episodes of Dangerous Liaisons can now be watched on Channel 4.
What to Read Next
The series initially received a mixed reaction from critics. Rotten Tomatoes reports a 47% approval rating based on 15 reviews, but viewers seem to like it much more, giving it a score of 76%.

I was reading a review in Paste Magazine, and they totally nailed it. They said the show is just pure fun – and that’s a good thing! It doesn’t try to be some deep, meaningful statement about history or life, it just wants you to enjoy yourself, and honestly, that’s super refreshing.
Similarly, The Guardian praised the show, suggesting viewers simply relax and enjoy it. They advised letting go of any concern about how Pierre C de L might react, as resisting the show’s silliness would be pointless.
The period drama currently has a mixed rating of 5.9 out of 10 on IMDb, based on 1200 user reviews. One viewer described the series as captivating, noting that the title seems to allude to the novel’s theme of manipulation and the impact people have on each other’s lives.

I rarely write reviews, but I was upset to see such unfair low ratings. I don’t usually enjoy dramatic stories, but I urge you to give Dangerous Liaisons a try – it’s a story that will truly captivate you, and you won’t regret it, another viewer shared.
The story of Dangerous Liaisons has been brought to the screen before, most notably in a 1988 film directed by Stephen Frears and starring Glenn Close and Keanu Reeves. That historical drama won three Oscars, including an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay, which went to playwright Christopher Hampton.
Dangerous Liaisons is streaming on Channel 4.
The latest issue of Living Legends, a vibrant 100-page magazine dedicated to Taylor Swift, is now available! You can purchase it at newsstands or online for only £8.99.
