Solid Snake in R6 Siege X and more reveals of Year 11 seasons

Rainbow Six is kicking off the spring with a thrilling new Operation! Get ready to experience the Silent Hunt and play as the expert stealth operative, Solid Snake. Year 11 is shaping up to be fantastic, and we’ve already got a sneak peek at what’s coming.

As a huge Rainbow Six Siege fan, I always look forward to the Six Invitational! It’s become a tradition where the developers finally share what they have planned for the year – everything from the esports schedule to all the new content coming our way. It’s super exciting to get a peek at the future of the game!

Rainbow Six Siege is teaming up with Metal Gear Solid! The legendary Solid Snake is joining the game as a playable operator. This collaboration includes a brand new operation with a unique game mode, an engaging story, and Snake’s iconic weapon.

Silent Hunt: Solid Snake is a new R6 Siege X operator

Rainbow Six Siege X will launch ‘Operation Silent Hunt’ on March 3rd. The operation’s name gives a clue about the new permanent operator, Solid Snake – he’s all about stealth.

You can get the Metal Gear Solid character and some special items by playing the R6 Operation Silent Hunt Battle Pass.

  • Solid Snake
  • The TACIT .45 pistol as a secondary weapon
  • Black Ice weapon skins
  • Psycho Mantis outfit for Smoke

R6 Solid Snake’s ability, gadget, and loadout

In Rainbow Six Siege X, the operator Solid Snake has a unique ability called On-Site Procurement. This lets him carry up to five extra gadgets—like smoke grenades, stun grenades, and frag grenades—but he doesn’t start the round with them equipped. He must acquire them during the round.

At the start of each round, Snake must defeat enemies to obtain a utility pouch. Throughout the round, he can then collect one gadget from a selection of five different types.

Primary gadget

The Solution Radar MKIII is a special device used by Solid Snake in Rainbow Six Siege X. It’s a handheld tool that lets the operator scan their surroundings and detect nearby enemies.

Okay, so the radar is super helpful. It shows me what I can shoot through or blow up – basically, softer surfaces. But it also gives me warnings with these lights. Green means all clear, I’m good to go. Yellow pops up when there’s a security camera watching me, so I gotta be sneaky. And red? That’s bad news – enemies are nearby and I need to watch my back!

As a huge fan, I’m telling you, the Solution Radar MKIII is amazing! You can actually see where your opponents are and even their line of sight. But you have to turn on ‘precision mode’ to get this, and it doesn’t last forever – it has a cooldown after you use it.

Snake is vulnerable with this radar, as he has only a knife in the other hand.

If the radar detects defenders, they’ll receive an alert. This gives them a vital chance to move to a better position or launch a preemptive strike.

The Solution Radar MKIII can be tricked. Holograms created by Alibi’s Prisma and the Electronic Rendering Cloak from Vigil are both capable of doing so.

Loadout

Rainbow Six Siege’s newest attacker, X Solid Snake, is a fast-paced operator with low health. He has one health and a three-speed rating. You can see his complete equipment setup in the image below.

  • Primary weapon: The PMR90A2 marksman rifle or the F2 assault rifle.
  • The TACIT .45 pistol, with an integrated suppressor and reflex sight. It’s very similar to the original Metal Gear Solid weapon.

The F2 weapon is getting some improvements for the Operation Silent Hunt update. You’ll now be able to add grips to it – things like horizontal, angled, or vertical grips – to help control recoil.

The limited-time [Redacted] event: A Metal Gear Solid game mode

The event begins a few weeks into the first season of Year 11. You’ll receive an invitation from [Redacted] to play on a revamped version of the Nighthaven Labs map, designed with a look inspired by the Metal Gear Solid game series.

This game mode features 4v4 matches centered around infiltration. It includes a narrative where Solid Snake joins forces with Zero, a fellow stealth expert, within the world of R6 Siege X.

This event offers new Metal Gear Solid-themed rewards, including an Ash outfit inspired by Meryl and a Jackal skin based on Gray Fox.
