Good news for fans of the Scream movies in the UK: Scream 7 will be released sooner than expected, thanks to a new release date announced by Paramount. While Neve Campbell is back for this installment, the film won’t continue the story directly from the last one, as Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega won’t be appearing.
Originally, the plan for Scream 7 involved continuing the story of Sam and Tara, with Skeet Ulrich suggesting Sam would even become Ghostface. However, the new movie now focuses on Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) being pulled back into the danger to safeguard her daughter, Tatum (Isabel May), as a new Ghostface emerges and targets them.
As a huge Scream fan, I was so excited to hear that Scream 7 is officially coming to UK cinemas on Thursday, February 26th! That’s one day before US fans get to find out who’s under the Ghostface mask – lucky us!
What to Read Next
Neve Campbell has said fans shouldn’t expect any details about Scream 7 before it hits theaters. While everyone else will be surprised, she, of course, already knows the full story.
I think it’s fantastic. When the idea was brought to me, they explained they wanted to revisit Sidney Prescott and explore what’s happening in her life now,” she shared on The Jonathan Ross Show.

She’s a mother to a teenage daughter, and it took real courage for her to start a family, given the difficult things that often happen to people around her. Her biggest fear is that Ghostface will target her family, and predictably, in this Scream movie, that’s exactly what occurs. Isabel May, who plays her daughter, is a wonderful actress.
This movie is really intense, and I enjoy directing films like this. The first one felt like a fun, carefree experience – we were all just starting out in our careers. It was a truly special time. It’s always great to reconnect with the cast and crew who worked on it over the years.
Although Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega won’t be appearing in the next Scream film, Courteney Cox is returning as Gale Weathers. Jasmin Savoy Brown and Mason Gooding will also be back as Mindy and Chad Meeks-Martin, continuing their roles from the last two movies.

Despite being killed off in the 2022 Scream movie, David Arquette is returning as Dewey Riley. Matthew Lillard and Scott Foley will also reprise their roles as past Ghostface villains, Stu Macher and Roman Bridger.
How that’ll happen, we’ll have to wait and see, but at least that wait is now one day shorter.
Scream 7 is released in UK cinemas on 26 February and in US cinemas on 27 February.
