I’m really getting into UnderGuild: Offense, it’s this cool, strategic hack-and-slash game made by LiberalDust. It looks simple at first, but there’s actually a lot of strategy involved. So, I decided to put together a beginner’s guide with some tips and tricks to help anyone just starting out, or even if you’re looking to improve your game!
UnderGuild: Offense Guide Overview
Let’s walk through how the game works. You’ll start with three tutorials that introduce you to everything. Like in Archero 2, you’ll get stronger as you level up, and then choose mercenaries and power-ups to help you defeat monsters.
Combining mercenaries lets you view possible combinations and unlock a powerful Legendary Mercenary. It’s also great that defeated mercenaries quickly recover and rejoin the fight. Plus, once you’ve cleared an area, you can proceed to the next one through newly opened passages.
The Red Room is really useful – you can get lots of good rewards by beating all the enemies inside. If you see one, definitely complete it before tackling the Boss Room. As for the Main Stages, they cost 3 Torches to enter, but they’re worth it because the rewards help you level up quickly.
UnderGuild: Offense Gameplay Basics
Hero
You’re not limited to just the starting Hero, Brave Chick! Here, you can choose from many different Heroes, each with varying levels of rarity. Here’s a breakdown of those rarities:
- Common: Brave Chick, Lazy Cat, Mischievous Tree, Fat Knight, and Glasses-Wearing Beetle Warrior.
- Rare: Collector Crayfish, Platypus, Nun, Plague Doctor, Marshmallow Skeleton Warrior, and Zombie.
- Legendary: Reincarnation Sorcerer, Mischievous Demon, Cactus, Light Bulb Robot, Brave Green Slime, Joker, Lone Samurai, Necromancer, Ninja, and Barrel Warrior Dwarf.
Modes
The game offers several modes: Common, where you progress through the main levels, and others like Ranking, Strategy, and Special. By completing these main levels, you’ll also unlock additional modes such as Infinite Sewer, Obsessive Giant Slime, Pigeon Cleanup, Strategy, and the Decommissioned Sector.
Mercenary
The game features Mercenaries with varying levels of power – Common, Legendary, and Mythic. You’ll unlock these throughout the game, and can equip up to six Common Mercenaries for each playthrough. Each Mercenary has unique abilities and strengths, and you can improve them to unlock even more powerful versions.
Powerful Mythic mercenaries like Martial Frog and Beetle Warrior have high Attack and HP. Unlocking them requires a specific combination: two Legendary mercenaries and one Common mercenary. While this can be challenging, it’s definitely achievable.
Sewer
Within the Sewer area, you can create designs for both Sewers and Creatures. The initial strength of these depends on your account level, but you can improve them separately using upgrades. These upgrades come in different levels – Low, Mid, High, and Top – each offering unique abilities based on their grade.
Your first draw is free, and you can earn another free draw by watching ads. This lets you unlock different sewers and discover creatures like the Baby Ghost Slime and Muddy Sewer, among others.
Growth
As you level up your account, you’ll gain Ability Points. These points let you improve different skills in the Growth section. For example, you can spend them to increase the HP of your Legendary mercenaries or your Hero by 10%.
Inventory
The Inventory section lets you outfit your Hero with a helmet, armor, a main weapon, a sub item, shoes, and other accessories.
Shop
Okay, so the in-game shop has two main parts: the regular Item Box and a special Hero & Mercenary Bundle. With the Item Box, if I do 99 draws, I’m guaranteed a Rare item, and 29 draws will get me an Uncommon one. The Bundle is cool because after just 22 draws, I have a chance at a Legendary mercenary. And a nice little bonus – both the Box and the Bundle level up a bit every 10 draws I do, which is pretty neat.
You can also buy extra items like Ad Removal, the Starter Pack, Torches, and Diamonds. Plus, you can watch ads to get 10 Torches and 40 Diamonds completely free!
UnderGuild: Offense Beginners Guide: Tips and Tricks
1. Keep moving and position well to counter enemies
Staying mobile is key, particularly when facing tougher enemy waves. You don’t need to be constantly moving, but understanding good positioning and when to shift your team’s location to maximize damage is crucial. As enemy waves get stronger, dodging attacks becomes essential to avoid taking damage.
2. Make sure to prioritize Mercenary Combinations
It’s best to carefully plan your mercenary team and combinations before each battle, rather than choosing randomly. Legendary and Mythic mercenaries are significantly more powerful, and having the right team will make clearing waves much easier.
3. Never skip the Red Room
If you come across a Red Room before facing the final Boss, definitely complete it. It’s a great way to make the Boss fight easier because completing it gives you valuable rewards that help you improve your mercenaries and strengthen your team.
4. Try to experiment with different heroes and mercenary combinations
Brave Chick is cute, but don’t limit yourself! Each hero has special abilities, so experiment to find what works best. Trying different hero and mercenary combinations will help you figure out the best strategy for each level.
5. Take full advantage of Ads
Okay, so ads can be annoying, I get it. But trust me, in this game, they’re actually worth it. I’ve found it’s super helpful to watch three ads a day in the Shop – you get a bunch of Torch and Diamond pieces, and it really adds up over time. It’s a grind, but it pays off!
Final Thoughts
I initially thought UnderGuild: Offense would be a straightforward game, but I quickly became engrossed in it, likely because I used to play Archero 2. It’s not exactly the same, but I found it enjoyable in a different way – it was more relaxing than the typical fast-paced MOBA or action games.
Assemble your team of heroes and mercenaries to battle huge bosses, each with their own special attacks. The game gets harder as you advance, so this beginner’s guide will help you enjoy the experience.
