Pi Network Unveils Major Token Distribution: What Pioneers Need to Know

The Pi Network team just announced they’ve finished distributing their second testnet token, Slice, using the Pi Launchpad.

The announcement explained how users, called Pioneers, could try out and learn about what the system can do.

SLICE Distributed

The first testnet token activities started on Pi Day (March 14th) in 2026, with almost 480,000 people trying out the Launchpad. The team used the feedback from this testing to make the Launchpad easier to use, improve how it works, and create a better experience for everyone.

Following early successes, Pi Network introduced a new test token called Slice in June. Testing ran from June 12th to June 28th (Pi2Day). For almost a month after that, there were no updates about Slice until this morning.

The team announced on X that the test tokens have been distributed. They encouraged users to try out the platform’s features, like how liquidity pools function and the new tool for tracking prices. Details about each user’s allocation, launch price, and access to the SLICE pool can be found in the Launchpad app within the Pi Browser, along with a chart showing how the token’s value changes compared to the original test token.

PI’s Weird Price Moves

As an analyst, I’ve been closely watching the project’s native token, and its price action has been pretty turbulent recently – mostly trending downwards. We saw it hit a new low of $0.07 a couple of weeks back after falling below the important $0.10 support level. After several failed attempts to recover, it unexpectedly jumped 20% last Sunday, but unfortunately, that rally only brought it *down* to test the $0.10 mark as resistance.

Despite initial hopes, the price couldn’t overcome strong resistance and stalled. Yesterday saw a significant drop of over 10%, falling to $0.082, following earlier indications that the price would likely decrease.

Some Pi Wallet users have reported unusual activity, such as tokens disappearing and many unsuccessful transactions sent to unfamiliar addresses.
