Fans can enjoy live-action adaptations like The Wheel of Time and animated series such as The Legend of Vox Machine and The Mighty Nein. However, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is Prime Video’s most significant fantasy series – and one of its biggest shows overall – considering its connection to a major movie franchise and its record-breaking production cost. Good news for fans: the show is returning for another season.
The first trailer for season 3 of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power was shown at a Prime Video panel during San Diego Comic-Con 2026. ScreenRant was present at the event, which featured both The Rings of Power and Blade Runner 2099.
The third season of Prime Video’s fantasy series, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, premieres November 11th and continues Sauron’s journey to create the One Ring. The new trailer features orcs, dragons, and a look at Galadriel’s relationship with her husband, Celeborn, who is played by Jamie Campbell Bower (known from Stranger Things). This season will also introduce the Nazgnagôl – the precursors to the more familiar Ringwraiths – expanding on the history of Middle-earth during the Second Age.
Wow, season two of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power really delivered! So much happened – Eregion was destroyed, and we lost some huge characters like Celebrimbor and Adar. Season 3 of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is set five years after the destruction of Eregion. Sauron’s forces have almost taken over all of Middle-earth, leaving only Khazad-dûm (the dwarves’ home) and the elven realms of Lindon and Rivendell still free. While the remaining defenders struggle against Sauron’s power, he focuses on creating the One Ring. The new season trailer hints at a surprising development: an orc joining forces with Galadriel and Arondir to fight against Sauron.
During a recent discussion, we found out that season 3 of the show will heavily focus on Sauron’s mindset – specifically, his decades-long struggle to create the One Ring. Following his appearance at the end of last season, Gandalf spent the next five years training alongside Tom Bombadil. Meanwhile, Tar-Míriel is building a rebellion from exile after being overthrown in Númenor, and the dwarf lords are searching for the rings Durin previously concealed. We’ll also meet Durin’s brother, Thrain, played by Eddie Marsan, and see how things change as Durin’s children enter their teenage years.
In addition to Campbell Bower as Celeborn and Marsan as Thrain, season 3 of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power introduces several new cast members: Andrew Richardson as Anarion (Elendil’s son and Isildur’s brother), Adam Young as the intriguing orc Marnûkh, and Zubin Varla as Khamûl the Easterling of Rhûn. Simon Pegg will provide the voice for the Balrog, a powerful foe Sauron will confront and learn from this season. Executive producers have hinted that the story of Númenor will be a major focus, describing the season as intensely dramatic, similar to a Cold War. Meanwhile, the Nazgûl are relentlessly pursuing the three Elven rings, hoping Sauron can use them to create the One Ring.
