Chris Brown, the Grammy-winning R&B singer, changed his plea to guilty on Friday regarding charges that he assaulted a music producer with a tequila bottle at a London nightclub in 2023.
The singer, age 37, admitted his role in the situation by changing his plea during a court appearance at Southwark Crown Court in London, according to the Associated Press.
In May 2025, Brown was arrested on suspicion of serious assault, stemming from an incident that occurred in Hanover Square in 2023. He pleaded not guilty to one count of intentionally causing grievous bodily harm during his court appearance a month later. Additional charges included common assault and possession of a weapon – specifically, a bottle.
A representative for Chris Brown did not immediately respond on Friday to a request for comment.

Chris Brown was ordered to pay almost $13 million to a housekeeper after a jury determined he was responsible for injuries she sustained during a dog attack by his Caucasian shepherd.
As part of a plea deal, prosecutors dismissed charges of assault, attempted serious harm, and possessing a weapon against Brown. Brown’s friend, Omololu Akinlolu, also known as HoodyBaby, had been charged with causing serious harm related to the same 2023 incident and also pleaded guilty on Friday.
Brown and Akinlolu were set to stand trial in October.
In February 2023, prosecutors said Chris Brown attacked music producer Amadou “Abe” Diaw at Tape London with a tequila bottle. This accusation matched claims made in a lawsuit Diaw filed against Brown in Los Angeles in October 2023. The lawsuit alleged assault and battery, stating that Brown severely beat Diaw over the head with the bottle and continued to kick him while he was unconscious on the nightclub floor.
I was really struck by what the prosecutor, Claire Campbell, said after the hearing on Friday. She made it clear that this level of violence simply won’t be tolerated. She and the entire Crown Prosecution Service are committed to pursuing these cases relentlessly, working closely with the police and everyone involved in the justice system, to demonstrate that the law applies to everyone, no matter who they are.
Chris Brown is currently touring across North America with Usher, and they’re scheduled to perform at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood on September 25th and 26th.
