Rolin Jones, the creator of Interview with the Vampire, has revealed plans for season four and how it will address the shocking ending of The Vampire Lestat. The most recent season featured Lestat forming a rock band and traveling to share his version of events after Louis published his story in Interview with the Vampire. This led to a final concert intended to promote ‘The Great Conversion’ – a plan to spread vampirism globally. Though not shown directly, this event ultimately leads to the destruction of Montreal.
In a recent interview with IGN, showrunner Jones explained that the upcoming third season of Interview with the Vampire actually only covers the first part of The Vampire Lestat‘s overall story, which is intended to continue into a fourth season. Season four will be based on Anne Rice’s Queen of the Damned, the third book in The Vampire Chronicles series, and will explore new aspects of the narrative from multiple viewpoints. Despite these additions, the storyline is still expected to culminate with the auction scene introduced in the season three premiere, maintaining a focus on Lestat’s journey toward that specific moment.

This isn’t just about the concert footage; there’s a lot of backstory to explore. If you’re familiar with ‘Queen of the Damned,’ you’ll notice the story is told through very specific perspectives. So, be prepared – this is the second part of the story! If anything felt confusing this year, don’t worry. While many will focus on that final shot of Montreal, that’s only one piece of the puzzle. A lot happened this year, and we’ll see two characters in an auction room who aren’t necessarily at odds. Everything will make sense if we get a fourth season.
The third season of The Vampire Lestat concluded with the destruction of Montreal and a dangerous pursuit of Louis and Lestat by Daniel and Armand. Driven by both a desire to halt the Great Conversion and personal vengeance, they were ultimately thwarted by Raglin James and the Talamasca, who surprisingly wanted Lestat’s concert to proceed. While it’s not yet clear how the destruction of Montreal fits into their larger scheme, the show suggests the pursuit of the Great Conversion is having catastrophic effects, and the next part of the story will delve deeper into these consequences.
According to Jones, at the beginning of season 3 of Interview with the Vampire, the characters haven’t yet faced the challenges and injuries that the season later reveals.
