‘s Alexa Demie clarifies those rumors that she plans on leaving Hollywood.
Since debuting as Maddy in the HBO series Euphoria in 2019, alongside stars like Sydney Sweeney, Zendaya, and Jacob Elordi, Alexa Demie has become a fan favorite. Now, with the release of season 3, Maddy is back, but rumors are circulating online that Demie might be planning to stop acting altogether.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Alexa Demie clarified that reports of her leaving acting aren’t true. While she admits to once doubting whether Hollywood had a place for her as a Latina actress, she insists she has no plans to stop acting.
While I was reading it, something really resonated with me, and it kept happening. I got tired of being in those situations, especially because I was young and constantly threatening to quit every few months. But honestly, I never would have actually gone through with it. I’m the type of person who digs in their heels and proves they can handle anything.
Rumors started spreading when the third season of the show premiered in mid-April. Back in 2020, actress Alexa Demie discussed on the A24 Podcast with Nathan Fielder (The Curse) how she used to worry about finding roles in Hollywood as a Latina actor. She explained that she considered stopping auditions because she often saw roles she wanted going to white actresses. Later, comments from that podcast were shared online, but without the full context of her original statements.
Rumors spread because Alexa Demie rarely makes public appearances. She did interviews to promote the first season of Euphoria as required by her contract, but has generally stayed out of the spotlight lately. However, she recently surprised everyone by attending the premiere of Euphoria season 3, a glamorous event filled with stars.
Demie clarified her decision to stop acting right before the final episodes of Euphoria season 3 are released. Many people have been wondering if these final episodes will conclude season 3, or if the show is ending altogether. Currently, Euphoria hasn’t been officially renewed for another season, and the people working on the show have given conflicting signals about its future.
Zendaya, the actress who plays Rue, hinted that the next episode of the show might be the last. During an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, she responded to a question about whether season three will be the end by saying, “I think so.” She also added that the show is moving towards a definite conclusion, stating, “Closure is coming.”
The show’s creator, Sam Levinson, has stated he doesn’t have any plans for a fourth season. He shared this with The New York Times.
I approach each season as if it’s my last, meaning if I have a compelling idea, I’ll pitch it to HBO. If it feels right, we’ll explore it. Creating this show is a massive undertaking – every department, from costumes to editing and cinematography, invests so much effort. Our main focus is always delivering a strong season. So, whether this turns out to be the final one, we’re proud of it. And if there’s an opportunity to continue, that’s great too.
