Tom Holland is already thinking about his Spider-Man exit as he addresses MCU future

Although the movie Spider-Man: Brand New Day hasn’t been released, Tom Holland, who plays Spider-Man, is already considering his future career plans after he finishes his role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The actor who plays Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be back on screens this summer in the fourth movie of the incredibly popular superhero series.

After a five-year wait, fans are excited to see what happens next in the superhero’s story. However, Tom Holland is already thinking about the future and who might become the next Peter Parker after he’s finished with the role.

He told Empire Magazine that he’d be excited to help launch the next phase of Spider-Verse stories, whether they focus on characters like Miles Morales, Spider-Gwen, Spider-Woman, or someone else entirely.

I’m not sure what that would entail, but I’d be incredibly happy to finish my career with the same impact Robert Downey Jr. had on mine,” the actor shared. He’s also starring in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film, The Odyssey.

What to Read Next

The actor was talking about Robert Downey Jr.’s famous role as Iron Man, which launched the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2008. Tony Stark was also key to bringing Tom Holland’s Spider-Man into the MCU in the 2016 film Captain America: Civil War, and the two characters formed a close relationship.

As a huge fan, it was awesome seeing Iron Man take Peter Parker under his wing and really help him become the hero we all knew he could be. I was totally heartbroken when Robert Downey Jr.’s time as Iron Man ended with that huge sacrifice in 2019. But honestly? I’m so excited to hear he’s coming back to the Marvel universe – even if it’s as the villainous Doctor Doom in the next Avengers movies! It’s going to be epic.

I’m really excited about the new Spider-Man movie, Brand New Day! It sounds like it’s going to explore what happens to Peter after everyone forgets he’s Spider-Man, picking up after No Way Home. Kevin Feige, the head of Marvel, has hinted that they’re bringing some really iconic storylines and characters from the comics into this one, which is awesome!

This is the first Spider-Man movie we’ve made that really emphasizes the traditional aspects of the character,” he explained to Empire Magazine. “He’s portrayed as living a pretty downbeat life in a small apartment, monitoring police reports, and using his abilities responsibly.”

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled to come out on July 31, 2026. You can currently purchase Spider-Man: No Way Home on platforms like Prime Video, iTunes, and other online stores.
