Hugh Jackman’s girlfriend Sutton Foster admits she feels ‘really alone’ after she was pictured looking tense with actor and says ‘women shouldn’t be pitted against one another’ amid ongoing comparisons to his ex-wife

Sutton Foster, Hugh Jackman’s partner, recently shared that she’s been feeling quite lonely, shortly after photos surfaced showing a strained interaction between the two.

The 57-year-old actor and his 51-year-old Broadway star girlfriend confirmed they were dating in January 2025, following his announcement a year earlier that he and his wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, were separating. Reports soon surfaced that his ex-wife is now interested in meeting his new partner.

Now, Sutton has seemingly referenced her relationship woes in a new interview.

She said: ‘I’ve been a leading lady for a long time… but often I feel really alone.

Last year, I connected with many people working in theater, especially women on Broadway. We all realized we had something in common: feeling isolated and alone in our careers.

Sutton seemed to hint at a possible strain in her relationship with Deborra-Lee Furness, Hugh Jackman’s former wife, who is 70. She expressed a desire for women in prominent roles to offer each other support instead.

At a recent Women’s Health Lab panel in New York City, she emphasized that powerful women don’t need to be rivals, but can instead support one another.

Hugh and Sutton were surprised and upset last week when Hugh’s ex-wife unexpectedly asked to meet his current girlfriend.

Deb doesn’t want to create any problems for them and hopes to meet so everyone can resolve things and move on.

According to a source, this situation isn’t about Deb being upset or wanting to scold Sutton. It’s about reaching a final resolution.

Initially, Deborra wasn’t eager to meet, but she’s changed her mind and is now willing to, hoping it will ease some of the existing awkwardness.

According to a source, it seems like she’s doing this simply to resolve an uncomfortable situation and finally express how she truly feels.

Hugh and Sutton openly displayed their new relationship, which upset Deborra. They were frequently visiting spots that Deborra used to frequent with her ex-husband, the actor known as Wolverine.

Hugh and Sutton were taken aback by Deborra’s suggestion, but willing to consider it as a way to resolve any awkwardness between them.

After the reports surfaced, Sutton and Hugh were photographed looking strained as they went to the gym in New York City.

It comes after Hugh was slammed for attending this year’s Met Gala in New York City with Sutton.

Everyone was stunned when the actor seemingly devastated his ex-wife at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. They had arrived holding hands and posing for pictures together, making the situation even more painful.

The actor completed his divorce from Furness in June of last year, ending a 27-year marriage. He began a relationship with Foster in late 2024, after they both appeared in the 2021 Broadway revival of The Music Man.

Hugh and his former wife were both at the Met Gala several times, most recently together in 2023.

The actor attended the 2024 party alone, and didn’t attend at all last year following their very public breakup.

Hugh made a grand return to the Met Gala in 2026 with Sutton at his side, walking up the famous steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The couple made their first appearance together at the Met Gala, and speculation is growing that a wedding may be coming soon.

In February, the Globe reported that Hugh refused to create a prenuptial agreement with the Broadway actress.

News of the potential wedding surfaced less than a year after Hugh and Deborra-Lee completed their difficult divorce, following their separation in 2023.
