A tabletop game based on Elden Ring: Nightreign is coming out on June 19, 2026. It’s being created by the same team that developed the Dark Souls tabletop role-playing game.
Okay, so I’ve been checking out Elden Ring Nightreign, and it’s a co-op action RPG that came out back in May 2025. It’s set in a totally different version of the Elden Ring world – this one’s called Limveld, and things have really gone south. It’s basically a super chaotic place filled with monsters, which honestly, sounds like an amazing setting for a tabletop RPG campaign. I can already picture some epic sessions!
The Elden Ring Nightreign TRPG Is Coming In June
FromSoftware is developing a new game for the Switch 2 called The Duskbloods, and they’re also planning to release more content for Elden Ring. A tabletop role-playing game based on Elden Ring, called Elden Ring Nightreign, will be available in June, created by Group SNE.
Currently, the Elden Ring Nightreign TRPG is only confirmed to be released in Japan. However, an English version is still possible, as other Japanese tabletop role-playing games, like the one based on Shin Megami Tensei, have been translated and released in English before.
In Elden Ring Nightreign TRPG, players team up to overcome the dangers of Limveld, battling strong monsters and memorable bosses from the Elden Ring universe. Unlike many tabletop RPGs designed for 4-6 players, this game is best experienced with a smaller group of up to three players.
Elden Ring Will Be Tricky to Adapt to the Tabletop RPG Format
Turning a game like Elden Ring Nightreign into a tabletop RPG presents a challenge because the game heavily emphasizes combat, and it’s difficult for a pen-and-paper RPG to replicate that intensity. This is something Steamforged encountered with Dark Souls: The Roleplaying Game, where they had to strike a balance between staying true to the original game’s atmosphere and creating a fun, multiplayer experience.
One of the best things about tabletop role-playing games, like Dungeons & Dragons, is the chance to become someone else and overcome challenges as that character. These games are usually fun and can even become quite silly. In contrast, the worlds created in FromSoftware games are typically dark and intensely serious.
It’s difficult to picture a typical Dungeons & Dragons group having fun in the dark and dangerous cities of Bloodborne or the harsh landscapes of Elden Ring Nightreign. However, Elden Ring‘s rich world and story have resonated with players, and if the new game can recreate that same atmosphere, it could be a fantastic experience for both FromSoftware fans and those who enjoy tabletop role-playing games.
