Prime Video’s Masterpiece Fantasy Franchise Is So Good, It’s Already Renewed For 3 More Seasons

I’m so excited! Prime Video’s fantasy series is getting three more seasons, and honestly, it’s no surprise. The world they’ve built and the characters are just so captivating. It’s been amazing to see fantasy become so popular lately, and streaming services have really helped. They’re giving these shows the big budgets they need to create truly epic episodes and battles – it’s really raised the bar for the whole genre!

It’s not surprising that we’ve seen so many excellent fantasy TV shows recently. Popular examples include HBO’s Game of Thrones universe – with shows like Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon, and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms – as well as Netflix’s The Witcher, One Piece, and Arcane. Disney+’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians is another standout, and there are plenty of other great shows too.

Prime Video has quickly become a go-to for fantasy fans. Beyond just offering a lot of fantasy series, the streaming service clearly understands what it takes to create big-budget, high-quality shows in the genre. They’re home to the most expensive TV show ever made, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, and also offer other popular fantasy titles like The Wheel of Time and Carnival Row, as well as plans for expanding existing franchises into multiple series.

Critical Role’s success extends to television with shows based on their popular Dungeons & Dragons campaigns. The Legend of Vox Machina and The Mighty Nein are both fantasy series set in the rich world of Exandria, filled with magic, dragons, and exciting adventures. The franchise is continuing to grow and isn’t slowing down anytime soon.

Prime Video Will Be Spending A Lot More Time In Exandria

As a huge fan, I’m thrilled to hear that Prime Video is continuing the adventures from Critical Role’s Exandria! They’re bringing back both The Legend of Vox Machina and The Mighty Nein for new seasons, which is fantastic news. We’ve already had three seasons of The Legend of Vox Machina on Prime Video, and season 4 is hitting the streamer on June 3rd. Interestingly, they’ve renewed it for two more seasons – season 5 will be the last, wrapping up the story. But don’t worry, it’s not a cancellation, just a planned ending to this incredible animated series!

Rather than extending the narrative beyond the original story in Critical Role’s first campaign, the creators chose to conclude the series naturally with season 5, bringing the storyline to a satisfying end. The adaptation of their second campaign, The Mighty Nein, which premiered its first season on Prime Video on November 19, 2025, is also moving forward smoothly. Travis Willingham of Critical Role told ScreenRant’s Grant Hermanns, while discussing season 4 of The Legend of Vox Machina, that development is “coming along very well.”

Why It Only Feels Like The Start For Prime Video’s Hit Fantasy Franchise

Matt Willingham shared that the second season of The Mighty Nein will take viewers to previously unexplored regions of the world of Exandria. According to the actor who plays Fjord, the characters are now more comfortable with each other, and the show has really hit its stride. This means the story of The Mighty Nein on Prime Video is just getting started, and the new season promises to be even more thrilling. While The Legend of Vox Machina will conclude after its fifth season, the rich world of Exandria still has many stories left to tell.

Following the already-announced three seasons, Prime Video is likely to adapt Critical Role’s Campaigns 3 and 4 – featuring the adventuring groups the Bells Hells and the more recent team that began on October 2, 2025. If these campaigns follow the example of The Legend of Vox Machina and each run for at least five seasons, that could mean over ten years of new fantasy content for Prime Video’s popular franchise.
