Demon Slayer Studio’s Dark Fantasy Anime Officially Returns With New JRPG Crossover for Summer 2026

The popular dark fantasy anime is coming back this summer after a 12-year hiatus, and it’s teaming up with a highly-rated, free-to-play sci-fi role-playing game!

Rin Tohsaka and the Heroic Spirit Gilgamesh from 2014’s Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works are making their first-ever debut in Honkai: Star Rail, the Japanese-inspired role-playing video game from global publisher Hoyoverse. Ahead of the summer crossover event, Honkai: Star Rail Version 4.3 introduces a brand-new 4-Star fire-type swordsman related to its ongoing “Planarcadia” storyline.

On July 1, 2026, Honkai: Star Rail will receive an update that reintroduces a key 5-Star character who appeared early in the “Planarcadia” storyline, alongside two popular characters from the planet Amphoreus.

Honkai: Star Rail Reveals Official First-Look at New Fate/Stay Night Crossover for Summer 2026

A new playable character named Mortenax Blade has been released in the game. He’s a powerful, 5-star Fire-type character who follows the Path of Nihility, according to an official announcement.

This swordsman was once afflicted with a fatal disease, which led him to the Stellaron Hunters, where he resigned himself to waiting for his predetermined end. Now, his fate will change dramatically. In battle, he uses his powerful Ultimate ability, ‘Fornax Ex Corpore,’ to create a unique field and significantly boost his combat abilities.

Okay, so when I activate Bounded Field, everything just hurts more – all the enemies take significantly increased damage! But that’s not all! It also unlocks Mortenax Blade’s special Skill, where he arranges his swords for massive damage. And get this – it even upgrades his Ultimate to be even stronger! Plus, every time anyone on my team attacks, it weakens the enemy and builds up a special charge for Mortenax Blade. Once that charge is full, he automatically unleashes his Skill and gets a boost of Energy, so he’s ready to go again! It’s a really powerful combo.

With the release of Honkai: Star Rail Version 4.3, I noticed players can earn a free outfit for their Trailblazer! It’s called “Karmic Fire of the Distant Shore,” and you get it simply by obtaining Mortenax Blade through the update’s Warp banner.

I’m so excited! The first part of the new 4.3 Warp banner is here, and it’s bringing back Yao Guang, the awesome 5-Star Physical companion we first met alongside Sparxie! And the great news doesn’t stop there – Cyrene (Ice-type) and Phainon (Physical) are both getting limited reruns in Part 2, which is fantastic for anyone who missed them before!

Fate/Stay Night Heroine Unleashed in Epic Space Fantasy JRPG

The exciting crossover event between Fate/Stay Night and Honkai: Star Rail is continuing, and this summer will bring Rin and Gilgamesh to the game! Players will be able to get Gilgamesh, the powerful 5-Star character known as the King of Heroes, for free when the event launches later this year, along with Archer Emiya.

You can still get Saber and Archer from the first phase of the Fate/stay night collaboration in Honkai: Star Rail, plus their special Light Cones.
