HBO’s 6-Part Controversial Series With 89% Returns as a Streaming Hit 9 Years Later

This success follows the release of creator Lena Dunham’s memoir, Famesick, which reveals behind-the-scenes stories from the making of Girls.

Girls Launched the Careers of Many Talented Stars

Lena Dunham, who also played Hannah Horvath—an aspiring writer in Brooklyn—on the show, became well-known for Girls. The HBO series was popular and won many awards, though it sometimes sparked debate. Following Girls, Dunham created the comedy Camping and the romantic comedy series Too Much.
