Adriana Trigiani, the bestselling author of books like The Shoemaker’s Wife and Lucia, Lucia, is writing a new novel that focuses on Constanzia “Connie” Corleone. While often overshadowed by her brothers in the famous story of the Corleone family (and memorably played by Talia Shire in the films), this novel will explore Connie’s own life and the significant role she played behind the scenes in the family’s criminal empire.

This project is a significant moment for the enduring Godfather series. For the first time, a woman – Adriana Trigiani – will write a novel based on the iconic story, with full approval from the estate of Mario Puzo, the original author. Mario Puzo’s son, Anthony, explained they chose Trigiani after being moved by an essay she wrote online about how little attention the women of the Corleone family receive. Interestingly, Anthony Puzo also shared that his own grandmother was a major inspiration for the powerful character of Vito Corleone, highlighting how important a female perspective is to the story.
