Cillian Murphy’s “wildly enjoyable” ’70s-set thriller is now streaming for free

You can currently watch the Cillian Murphy film Free Fire for free in the UK. It was shown on Film4 last night and is now available on Channel 4’s streaming service, but only for a limited time.

The movie takes place in the 1970s and centers around two criminals involved in a weapons exchange with members of the IRA, a group they already have a strained relationship with.

Although things start off relatively smoothly, events soon go awry and all hell breaks loose.

According to Slashfilm, the climactic shootout is a common movie trope, but in Ben Wheatley’s Free Fire, the entire film feels like one extended gun battle. Surprisingly, it’s a success.

According to The Austin Chronicle, Free Fire is surprisingly enjoyable, despite being exactly what you’d expect. They specifically highlighted its impressive editing, bizarre inclusion of John Denver moments, and called it one of the most cleverly silly action movies in recent years.
