Tomorrow never dies for James Bond. Auditions officially underway to find the new 007

Diamonds are forever — but an actor’s James Bond tenure never is.

As a huge cinema fan, I’m thrilled to hear that Amazon MGM Studios is officially starting the hunt for the next James Bond! It’s exciting news for anyone who loves the franchise – they’re really beginning the search for who will take on that iconic role.

Amazon MGM Studios announced on Thursday that they’ve begun the search for a new James Bond. They won’t be sharing details about who’s being considered right now, but promised to update fans as soon as they can.

Variety reports that the studio has been holding auditions for several weeks, and they’ve brought in Nina Gold, known for casting “Game of Thrones” and the recent “Star Wars” films, to help with the selection process.

A new actor will be taking over the role of James Bond after Daniel Craig finished his run with the 2021 film, “No Time to Die.” Craig played Bond in a total of five films, including “Casino Royale” (2006), “Quantum of Solace” (2008), “Skyfall” (2012), and “Spectre” (2015).

Movies

Denis Villeneuve, the acclaimed director nominated for four Oscars and currently making the third ‘Dune’ movie, will be directing the next James Bond film.

Denis Villeneuve, the director of “Dune,” will direct the next James Bond film – the 26th in the series. The script is being written by Steven Knight, who created “Peaky Blinders.” Amy Pascal and David Heyman are producing the movie, with Tanya Lapointe serving as executive producer.

In February 2025, it was revealed that Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, who have long overseen the James Bond films, had agreed to give Amazon MGM Studios creative control over the franchise. Amazon was particularly interested in acquiring MGM in 2022 because of the popular 007 series.

Idris Elba has mentioned he lost interest in being considered for the James Bond role when discussions surrounding the possibility focused on his race. Tom Holland, who plays Spider-Man, dismissed the rumors last year, suggesting a decision would be made eventually.
