It’s a huge celebration of all things animation, recognizing the best shows, movies, and people who made them over the past year. Everyone around the world is waiting to find out which series will win the big awards, and it promises to be a fantastic, star-studded event.

The 2026 Crunchyroll Anime Awards Will Be Free and Open to the Public

I’m so excited! The Museum of the Moving Image is teaming up with Crunchyroll to really celebrate anime, and they’re putting on an incredible exhibit called Anime’s Ascendant Decade. From May 15th to October 12th, you can actually watch full episodes of some amazing, award-winning anime that’s come out since 2017. And get this – there’s also a huge, stunning mural created by the incredible manga artist, Acky Bright! It’s going to be a must-see for any anime fan like me.

Experience anime’s biggest celebration on the big screen at the Museum’s Redstone Theater! Though the awards ceremony happens live in Tokyo, fans in New York can come together to share in the excitement. This event shows how popular anime has become and gives fans a special place to connect with each other.

Everyone is welcome to join our free watch party! Museum members will get first access to RSVP. Doors will open at 3:00 a.m. to match the start time in Japan, giving everyone a chance to check out the gallery and chat before the event. We encourage attendees to come dressed in cosplay for fun photos! We’ll have snacks and drinks, and the pre-show begins at 4:00 a.m. We’re excited to create a lively and inclusive experience for both those here in person and those watching from home.

When, Where, and How to Watch The 2026 Crunchyroll Anime Awards

If you can’t make it to the 2026 Crunchyroll Anime Awards in Japan or the viewing party at the Museum’s Redstone Theater, you can still watch everything online for free. The entire event, including the red carpet arrival of guests and the awards ceremony itself, will be streamed from beginning to end, just like in past years.

The official broadcast will begin at 10:00 pm EST on May 23rd on Crunchyroll’s YouTube channel. Anime fans around the world can easily watch and support their favorite series, movies, voice actors, and music. Crunchyroll members can vote on the platform with their active accounts, giving the anime community a chance to make their voices heard. Each member can only vote once per account – multiple profiles aren’t allowed. After voting closes, fans will have to wait for the live broadcast to find out who won!
