Netflix mystery with “beloved” Harlan Coben character confirmed with ‘true master of the genre’ boss

Harlan Coben‘s popular character, Myron Bolitar, is getting his own Netflix series. Coben is working with David E. Kelley, the acclaimed writer and producer behind shows like Big Little Lies and Margo’s Got Money Troubles, to adapt the novels for television.

David E. Kelley and Kyle Long (known for Suits) will co-write and co-run the Myron Bolitar series. Harlan Coben expressed his excitement about the partnership with Kelley and his team at Netflix, calling it both an honor and a lot of fun.

I’m really excited about the Myron Bolitar adaptations and impressed by the talented team working on them, as these books are very special to me.

Myron Bolitar debuted in Harlan Coben’s 1995 novel, Deal Breaker, and went on to appear in twelve of Coben’s books. Originally envisioned as a promising basketball player who became a sports agent, Myron unexpectedly falls into the role of an investigator, often finding himself solving a wide variety of cases.

I’ve always loved Myron Bolitar, and I know Harlan Coben feels incredibly connected to him too – he’s even said Myron is his ‘most prized possession’! It’s really interesting to hear that even though he’s so passionate about the character, he was actually pretty nervous about seeing Myron adapted for TV. You can tell how much this character means to him.

In a December 2025 appearance on the Table Manners podcast, Harlan Coben discussed the challenge of potentially ending his Myron Bolitar series. He explained that letting go of Myron is more difficult for him than finishing a standalone novel. He pointed out that if viewers dislike a character in a single book like Fool Me Once or Run Away, that’s just one story. However, Myron is a character very close to his heart, and he feels anxious about concluding that series.

Netflix has officially announced a Myron Bolitar mystery series. Jinny Howe, Netflix’s Head of Series for the US and Canada, shared that Harlan Coben has chosen Netflix to bring his most beloved and personal character, Myron Bolitar, to life after a successful decade-long partnership of 11 series.

We’ve been eager to adapt this story for television, and finding the perfect team to bring it to life was crucial. We’re thrilled to be working with David E. Kelley, a leading expert in this type of storytelling, and the incredibly skilled Kyle Long on this series. This project marks an important step in our ongoing collaboration, and we’re excited about what the future holds for our partnership.

Fans of Harlan Coben will be excited to hear about this new series, especially those who enjoy his thrilling book adaptations. While we wait for its release, there are two more adaptations on the horizon: I Will Find You is coming in June, and The Woods, starring Michelle Keegan, is currently being filmed.

It’s a great time to be a Coben fan.
