I’m still disappointed that we never got a Buffy spin-off, so I’m cautiously excited about the new X-Files reboot coming to Hulu. Everything we’ve learned so far sounds really good. The show is being led by Ryan Coogler, the Oscar-winning director and writer of Black Panther, which means a talented creative mind is in charge. Coogler has said the new series will blend self-contained episodes with a bigger, ongoing storyline, similar to how Chris Carter originally created The X-Files.

Hulu has greenlit a pilot for a new version of The X-Files, and it boasts a fantastic cast. Similar to the original series, the show will follow two FBI agents who are an odd pair but must work together while investigating unexplained phenomena like UFOs and paranormal events within a secret department. Danielle Deadwyler, known from The Piano Lesson, and Himesh Patel, from Yesterday, will star as the leads. Both actors are incredibly talented and charismatic, and hopefully, their chemistry will be as captivating as that of Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny.

The new version of The X-Files isn’t just starring two main actors—it’s also bringing in a fantastic lineup of well-known guest stars. Having so many big names suggests the show will feature plenty of standalone episodes focusing on different cases. Even before the first episode is filmed, this reboot already boasts one of Hulu’s strongest casts.

The X-Files’ Impressive Guest Star Lineup Means We’re Getting Lots Of Case-Of-The-Week Episodes

With the premiere of the new X-Files on Hulu just around the corner, the streaming service has revealed a strong lineup of guest stars. Joining the cast are Devery Jacobs, known for Reservation Dogs; Tantoo Cardinal, recently in Killers of the Flower Moon; Lochlyn Munro from the Scary Movie films; Joel Montgrand, who also appeared in True Detective: Night Country; and newcomer Sofia Grace Clifton.

The show also features well-known actors like Steve Buscemi (who previously appeared as himself on The Studio), Ben Foster (known for Hell or High Water), and Amy Madigan, who recently won an Oscar for her performance as the scary villain Aunt Gladys in the hit horror movie Weapons. And that’s just in the first episode!

The new version of The X-Files is bringing in a lot of guest stars, including some well-known actors. While her work in Weapons might be a little too fantastical for The X-Files – though the original series did explore witchcraft in an earlier episode – a character with Gladys’s unique blend of quirkiness, creepiness, and captivating presence would be fantastic.

There’s still a chance the new X-Files series might not happen, just like the planned New Sunnydale reboot fell through. And even if it does get made, it might not be great, so I’m trying to stay cautiously optimistic. However, everything we’ve heard so far is encouraging – with Michael Coogler involved, a strong lead cast in Zuleika Deadwyler and Manny Patel, and some exciting guest stars lined up for the first episode. Hopefully, this reboot will be a success and bring fresh life to the X-Files for a new audience.
