Viewers of ITV and BritBox are loving A Taste For Murder, a show that combines intriguing murder mysteries with family stories, all set against the beautiful backdrop of the Mediterranean. Although the series follows DCI Joe Mottram (played by Warren Brown) in Capri, Italy, it wasn’t actually filmed entirely on location there.
In tonight’s episode, Joe finds himself investigating a real murder after a murder mystery event takes a dark turn when the host is killed. Meanwhile, Angelica is settling into her new life in Italy, but her grandmother, Elena, is becoming more insistent that she stay there permanently.
The story starts with Joe and his daughter going to the beautiful island of Capri after Joe’s wife, Sofia, passed away. They found comfort with Sofia’s parents, Elena and Gennaro, who own a charming restaurant right on the coast.

With a blend of mystery and family relationships, A Taste For Murder has gained a dedicated following thanks to its cozy feel and stories centered around food. However, the show’s stunning locations might just be its biggest draw.
Matt Baker, the creator of the series, has a deep affection for Italy, which was also evident in his previous work, Hotel Portofino. A Taste For Murder was filmed throughout 2025 in Italy and Croatia, but the story mainly unfolds on the beautiful Italian island of Capri.
What to Read Next
Capri, a beautiful island in the Tyrrhenian Sea near Naples, is well-known for its stunning cliffs, vibrant buildings, and glamorous seaside vibe. The show features breathtaking views of Capri’s coastline, as well as the nearby Amalfi Coast, a location officially recognized for its cultural significance by UNESCO.
Although the Amalfi Coast is stunning, filming there was surprisingly tricky because of how hard it was to get around. As a result, the production team didn’t film there as much as you might think.

Filming for the series also took place directly in Naples. In episode three, Joe explores further into the city, with scenes shot in the bustling Marianella neighborhood. As the capital of the Campania region and the home of pizza, Naples was a perfect location for the show. The production team also visited Cetara, a small coastal village on the Amalfi Coast, to showcase a more peaceful side of Italy’s seaside towns.
While the story is set in Italy, much of the filming for A Taste For Murder actually took place in Croatia. The country stood in for various Italian settings throughout the series. Several scenes featuring the Da Vinale family’s restaurant were filmed in Opatija, a beautiful coastal town on the Adriatic Sea, and parts of the town were even transformed to look like the show’s police station.
The charming coastal village of Volosko was also a prominent location in the show. Known for its fresh seafood and picturesque harbor, it perfectly complemented the series’ warm and inviting Mediterranean style.
Filming also took place in the charming Croatian town of Labin, perched on a hilltop in Istria, and known for its winding streets and beautiful sea views. The production briefly set up in Zagreb, using Dubrava University Hospital and the Museum of Arts and Crafts as filming locations.
The blend of Italian and Croatian settings is key to the appealing, relaxed atmosphere of A Taste For Murder. It beautifully contrasts picturesque landscapes with a compelling crime story. As the series reveals Joe’s mysterious history and explores complex family relationships, all set against the gorgeous backdrop of Capri’s coastline, it becomes a truly engaging crime drama – and offers some lovely travel inspiration too.
A Taste For Murder airs Wednesday at 9pm on ITV.
