Pirates of the Caribbean Officially Returns in 2027 With Unmissable Immersive Experience

The movie has done incredibly well at the box office, despite initially receiving mixed reviews from critics. A major reason for its popularity was Johnny Depp’s charismatic portrayal of the drunken pirate, Jack Sparrow. When Disney attempted to replace him, fans lost interest in the series.

For nearly ten years, Disney has been planning a sixth Pirates of the Caribbean movie and hoping to include Johnny Depp. In addition to a planned spinoff starring Margot Robbie and another film focusing on Jack Sparrow’s son, Disney is also creating a new interactive theatrical experience based on the Pirates of the Caribbean films, scheduled for release in 2027.

Pirates of the Caribbean Is Getting an Immersive Adventure

As a moviegoer, I’ve really noticed more and more films getting the special, extra-immersive treatment in theaters lately. Just this year, we saw a re-release of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone given that upgrade, and it’s definitely a trend that’s picking up steam.

The new Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: The Immersive Adventure is being created by Secret Cinema and TodayTix, and Disney Theatrical Group has given permission for its production.

Guests can expect a fully immersive experience, almost like joining the crew! The story will unfold around them with detailed sets, live performances, music, and exciting stunts, making them feel like they’re actually part of the adventure.

As a total film fanatic, I’m seriously excited about this! Merritt Baer, who’s behind the incredible Secret Cinema and TodayTix, just hinted at something huge: a Pirates of the Caribbean experience! Apparently, we’re talking epic stunts, amazing sword fights, and a whole cast of pirate characters. They’re building this immersive world in Tortuga and even on the Black Pearl itself – it sounds like the ultimate way to experience the films!

Get ready to set sail! Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: The Immersive Adventure is coming to Secret Cinema London, close to the O2 arena. Tickets become available starting June 1, 2026.

The Pirates of the Caribbean Franchise Keeps Sailing

The popular pirate adventure series, originally inspired by a Disney theme park ride, has been incredibly profitable. The five movies released so far have earned over $4.5 billion worldwide, despite costing an estimated $1.27 to $1.36 billion to produce, making it a huge win for Disney.

After the legal issues involving Johnny Depp, Disney initially ended their working relationship with him and planned to reboot the popular franchise. However, once the situation calmed down, they expressed interest in bringing Depp back, along with a well-known producer.

The last Pirates of the Caribbean movie, Dead Men Tell No Tales, came out in 2017, but another one is in the works. In 2020, it was announced that Margot Robbie would star, but there haven’t been any updates since then. However, producer Jerry Bruckheimer recently confirmed in 2025 that Robbie is still part of the project and they are continuing to develop the screenplay.

A new Pirates of the Caribbean movie was revealed earlier this year, but it won’t star the original lead. While no actors have been confirmed yet, this new film could be a great way to bring Captain Jack Sparrow back – perhaps as a mentor to a younger character, his son.
