Netflix touts $325 billion economic impact and 425,000 jobs created by its productions worldwide

Just before presenting to advertisers, Netflix is highlighting the positive economic impact of its movies and TV shows.

According to a new report released Tuesday, Netflix has helped create over 425,000 jobs worldwide and added more than $325 billion to the global economy. The company highlighted its production activity in over 4,500 locations around the world.

Netflix said it has also invested more than $135 billion overall in its movies and shows.

In a statement released Tuesday, co-CEO Ted Sarandos explained that unlike some competitors who are cutting back, Netflix plans to continue investing in its content. This includes strengthening relationships with the creative talent, communities, and viewers who support the platform, as they look towards the future.

Netflix emphasized its impact in California, pointing out that its series “The Lincoln Lawyer” boosted the state’s economy by over $425 million and provided jobs for more than 4,300 people during its four seasons. Filmed across Los Angeles at over 50 locations – including iconic spots like Dodger Stadium and Grand Central Market – the show significantly contributed to the local economy.

The issue of filming in Los Angeles has been a major focus this week at the television industry’s upfronts in New York. This comes as California works to keep film and television productions from moving to other states and countries.

Actor Jake Johnson received a big cheer on Monday when he revealed that the new NBC show, “Sunset P.I.,” would be filmed in Los Angeles.

The new “Baywatch” series on Fox will be filmed in Los Angeles, taking advantage of the famous beaches in Venice and Santa Monica.
