Bonnie Tyler’s close friend issues a health update and says ‘it’s not that good’ as singer remains in hospital in Portugal in an induced coma

Friends of Bonnie Tyler are hoping for positive updates as the singer is currently in a medically induced coma. This comes after she experienced cardiac arrest following surgery in Portugal.

The Welsh actor, who has a home in Portugal’s Algarve region, is seriously ill in Faro Hospital after undergoing emergency surgery for a ruptured intestine.

Tyler’s close friend, Liberto Mealha, says her condition is still unclear. She’s currently in a medically induced coma in the ICU to help her get better.

He told The Mirror he couldn’t visit her because she’s in the intensive care unit, but they’re hoping for positive updates. Doctors are optimistic, though her condition hasn’t improved much yet.

Doctors tried to wake Tyler, 74, from a medically induced coma last week, and she subsequently suffered a cardiac arrest.

A representative for the singer confirmed that Bonnie has been placed in a medically induced coma to help her recover. They asked for privacy during this challenging time and expressed gratitude for everyone’s well wishes.

‘We will issue a further statement when we are able to.’

Mealha first encountered Bonnie Tyler when Tyler opened a popular nightclub in Albufeira during the 1980s, not far from Mealha’s vacation home.

He mentioned last week that she began to feel sick while performing at a concert in London. She saw a doctor and had tests done, but the results were normal.

‘She decided to travel to the Algarve, where she began to feel severe abdominal pain.

Oh my gosh, two days later I found out she’d gone to a hospital, but it wasn’t good enough! They immediately sent her all the way to Faro because her appendix had actually ruptured! She needed emergency surgery, it was so scary! I was just praying she’d be okay.

Tyler began feeling sick about a month ago. She was confined to bed for two days at her home in the Algarve before her husband, Robert Sullivan, took her to a private hospital. She was then moved to a hospital in Faro.

The singer, a veteran performer with several popular songs and a 2013 Eurovision contestant for the UK, was reportedly taken to the hospital on April 30th.

Just yesterday, when Bonnie first became unwell, a spokesperson shared that she had been hospitalized in Faro, Portugal – where she owns a home – for urgent surgery on her intestines.

‘The surgery went well and she is now recuperating.

Everyone who cares about her – her family, friends, and fans – will be worried about this news and hoping she gets better quickly.

She was initially reported to be in stable condition at Faro Hospital’s intermediate care unit, but her health later declined, and she was moved to the intensive care unit.

According to reports, she continued to work even though she’d been experiencing ongoing pain for weeks before being hospitalized.

Her representatives have not yet commented on reports that she had to be resuscitated.

Cardiac arrest is a sudden, life-threatening medical emergency where the heart stops working and can’t pump blood. This stops oxygen from reaching the brain and other parts of the body.

This leads to immediate loss of consciousness and the person will collapse. Quick action, including starting CPR and using a defibrillator if one is accessible, is crucial to save their life.

A burst appendix is a dangerous medical situation that needs immediate surgery and antibiotics to prevent life-threatening infections.

Mealha, the godmother of Tyler’s child, shared last week that the singer’s husband has been with her constantly at the hospital, only going home to sleep.

He also said his father is thankful for the care he received from the doctors and nurses at the Faro hospital, and feels Bonnie wouldn’t have survived if she hadn’t been moved to Portugal.
