Okay, so Stellar Blade was a huge hit, and honestly, I’m not at all surprised to hear that Shift Up is already working on the next one! It’s awesome to know they’re not wasting any time getting back to it.

The original Stellar Blade game was published by Sony, but the next installment – likely titled Stellar Blade 2 – will have a different publisher.

The studio explained their decision to self-publish, and their reasoning is solid. This will likely please gamers who don’t use PlayStation.

Stellar Blade 2 Will Most Likely Be Released on Multiple Platforms at Launch

During Shift Up’s recent earnings call, analysts inquired about the future plans for the company’s growing publishing division.

Shift Up announced they will publish the next Stellar Blade game themselves, aiming to reach a wider audience. They also plan to self-publish titles for their UNBOUND project. To support this, they are hiring experienced professionals from around the world to help launch and manage these games globally. According to the company, the chance to publish Stellar Blade and UNBOUND directly on a global scale is attracting top talent and allowing them to quickly build a strong in-house publishing team.

Considering how well Stellar Blade performed, it’s understandable why Shift Up decided to publish the next game themselves. This gives them the freedom to release it on any platform and at any time they choose.

Stellar Blade launched on PlayStation 5 on April 26, 2024, and became available on PC on June 11, 2025. Currently, there are no plans to release the game on Xbox Series X|S or Nintendo Switch, potentially missing out on a large number of potential players.

It’s not surprising that Shift Up plans to release Stellar Blade 2 on more than just one console. The studio hinted at this possibility a few months ago, and a job posting from last year suggested they were aiming for a multi-platform release.
