Zoe Saldaña has surpassed Scarlett Johansson to become the highest-grossing actor of all time. Saldaña’s films have collectively earned over $15 billion at the box office worldwide.
It’s not surprising, given the actor’s involvement in major global film franchises like the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where she’s known for her role as Gamora, and James Cameron’s acclaimed sci-fi film, Avatar.
Although Zoe Saldaña last played Gamora in the 2023 film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, she recently returned to her role as Neytiri in the newest Avatar movie, Avatar: Fire and Ash.

Saldaña has earned more money than any other actor in leading movie roles. But if you include smaller parts and cameos, another actor from the Marvel Cinematic Universe has a higher total earnings record.
Samuel L. Jackson, known for his role as Nick Fury in Marvel movies, has appeared in films that have collectively grossed over $21 billion worldwide, making him the highest-grossing actor in live-action cinema.

Stan Lee, the legendary face of Marvel and famous for his quick cameos, is considered the highest-earning star when you look at all his film roles. He appeared in every Marvel Cinematic Universe movie from the first, Iron Man in 2008, through Avengers: Endgame in 2019. The Endgame cameo was released after his passing in 2018.
Okay, so it looks like Zoe Saldaña won’t be back as Gamora for the next big Avengers movie, Avengers: Doomsday – which is a bummer! But thankfully, a lot of the original MCU actors will be returning, which is super exciting!

The trailers for the upcoming film Doomsday, directed by the Russo brothers, show that Chris Evans will reprise his role as Captain America (Steve Rogers) and Chris Hemsworth will return as Thor.
The film features a star-studded cast, including Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Anthony Mackie as the new Captain America, and Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes. It also brings together actors from the X-Men universe, such as Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, and Rebecca Romijn.
Avengers: Doomsday is released in cinemas on 18 December.
The latest issue of Living Legends magazine is now available, and it’s dedicated to the incredible Dolly Parton! You can find ‘Dolly at 80’ in shops or order it online for only £8.99.
