Ever come across a wild goose while you were out and about? Maybe even managed to chase one into the water or catch it yourself? I realize that’s a bit of an unusual thing to do, and you don’t need to explain it to me.
Those early experiences actually open up a whole series of fascinating quests. These quests will take you all over the world, asking you to do unusual things for some very peculiar characters. Some of these tasks might seem pointless at first, like a waste of time, but everything fits into the bigger picture of this world.
Alright, time to get started! I’m gearing up and getting my rhythm game face on because Lady Zhou wants to see what I’m made of. Let’s do this!
Quest Prerequisites

From what I’ve seen, many players are having trouble starting this quest because they’re unaware of the necessary steps.
Before starting at the Blissful Retreat, you must first defeat at least one Goose.
You can trigger this event by either throwing the angry Goose into the river at the start of the game, or by completing a bounty from Wandering Paths – hunt down and defeat a Goose for a reward. Your character will even comment on this accomplishment when the quest begins.
Also, be sure to have completed Bloomveil Monastery at least one time, as it’s important for understanding the story.
A few players have mentioned issues starting this quest if they have a lot of other quests active, or if the Blissful Retreat location has already been destroyed. But, I didn’t encounter either of those problems when I started it myself.
Quest Objectives
Trial 1

Okay, so the first thing you need to do is head through that red archway into Blissful Retreat and find the little group of people hanging around. Talk to one of the servants and let them know you’re an adventurer – basically, brag a little! But if you’re hoping to be chosen to protect Lady Zhou, you’ll need to complete three challenges first to prove you’re up to the task.
Once you’ve finished talking to everyone, teleport to the Boundary Stone on Moonveil Peak and go east down the mountain. At the marked spot, a servant will ask you to defeat a bear and collect some of its fur.
If you encounter a bear, keep an eye out for strangely shaped rocks nearby. You can use Tai Chi to knock the bear into the wall and potentially receive a valuable chest as a reward!
A bear shouldn’t be too difficult. You’ve dealt with bears before, so use your Tai Chi skills to defeat it quickly. Then, go back to the Servant – they’ll be surprised you succeeded – and give them the bear fur.
Trial 2

For the next Trial, you’ll need to find another servant located west of the large, drained pool – assuming you’ve already completed that quest.
Next, you’ll need to play a song on the Guqin. If you’re new to this musical game, it might be a little challenging.
The game has six sequences, each needing a specific button press. It’s similar to previous versions if you’ve played them, but it might be a bit harder to master when using a controller.
To play, hit the button that matches each note as it reaches the circle. Your score and streak depend on your accuracy. I recommend using six fingers – three on your left and three on your right – and assigning each finger to a different note, following the order you see on the screen. Think of each falling note as representing one of your fingers.
The song isn’t too difficult, but there are a few fast sections. It’s best to practice the notes and where to put your fingers beforehand so you can play them smoothly.
It doesn’t seem like you can really mess this up – I didn’t play very well, but I still managed to complete it. So don’t stress about making mistakes!
Trial 3

Next, go to Heaven’s Pier and speak to the servant there. They’ll ask you to find a page boy close by. To get his attention, you’ll need to tell him the secret phrase: “Though far, not far; though empty, not empty.”
After you say the phrase again, the boy will ask you to sit and meditate on one of the rooftops nearby.
First, go to the roof shown and interact with the on-screen prompt. This will fast-forward time by one full day and night. Then, go back to the boy; he’ll admit he made a mistake and that it’s the wrong roof. You’ll need to repeat these steps until you find the correct one.
Once you’ve finished building the second roof and nothing changes, go back to the boy. You’ll find him talking to a servant. Listen to what they’re saying, then talk to them to begin the third challenge.
In the next scene, you’ll meet the famous Lady Zhou, but things take a turn when a group of monks kidnap her instead of you. Don’t worry, you won’t have to fight – the action happens in a cutscene where you watch them get defeated. Lady Zhou will then thank you and leave, marking the end of the quest!
Quest Rewards

Upon completion of the quest, you will be rewarded with:
- 50x Echo Jade
- 50x Qinghe Exploration
- 15000 Coins
- 15000 EXP
You’ll also receive a special costume called the Alms Pilgrim. To wear it, go to the Wardrobe menu where you’ll find both a hat and a robe for your character.
You’ll also gain points as you play. When you reach 1500 points, you’ll get a Talent Point, which you can use to unlock helpful permanent upgrades in the talent tree.
