Rick Ross sparks chaos with Drake moment during Verzuz

In 2024, during the height of the feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar, many rappers publicly chose sides. One of those rappers was Rick Ross, from South Florida.

Drake and Rick Ross had collaborated on many songs together, including hits like “Stay Schemin’,” “Money In The Grave,” and “Lemon Pepper Freestyle.” That’s why it was surprising when Rick Ross publicly supported Kendrick Lamar instead of Drake.

It’s been a couple of years since Drake and Rick Ross were beefing hard, and honestly, things had calmed down a lot. But during Rick Ross’s Verzuz with French Montana, he dropped some hints that they still aren’t cool with each other. It was a little reminder that the drama isn’t completely over, you know?

Here’s how Rick Ross slighted Drake during his Verzuz battle

During the Verzuz battle between Rick Ross and French Montana, they took turns playing their biggest hits. Rick Ross chose to play “Aston Martin Music” from his 2010 album, Teflon Don. However, that song includes a feature from Drake.

I heard Rick Ross didn’t want Drake on ‘Aston Martin Music’ when they were playing it live. He actually told the DJ to just skip Drake’s part completely – he specifically said, ‘No Drake vocals!’ It’s pretty direct, right?

The tension increased when Rick Ross interrupted the song to let the audience sing Drake’s verses. However, he referred to Drake’s part as “lil man part,” which was clearly meant to be disrespectful and diminish Drake’s contribution.

Even though Drake wasn’t on the song “Aston Martin Music,” which gave Rick Ross a chance to criticize him, it didn’t help Ross win the Verzuz battle. Surprisingly, French Montana won with a score of 10 to 9.

Rick Ross’s recent jab at Drake isn’t even his most pointed criticism. He previously released a whole song, “Champagne Moments,” directly aimed at Drake during the Drake and Kendrick Lamar feud, and also popularized the nickname “BBL Drizzy.”

This shows that Ross and Drake haven’t resolved their issues since their falling out two years ago. Despite any valid reasons for their disagreement, it’s unfortunate, especially considering how much fantastic music they made together.

Hip-hop is known for disagreements and rivalries between artists. The recent public dispute between JPEGMAFIA and Earl Sweatshirt is a good example, and now Rick Ross seems to be distancing himself from Drake, though it’s a more subtle conflict. With both Ross and Drake releasing new music soon, it remains to be seen if this tension will continue.
