Following preview showings last weekend, The Sheep Detectives is now playing in theaters everywhere! Early reviews suggest it’s a film you’ll likely enjoy.
The movie is based on Leonie Swann’s 2005 book, Three Bags Full, and tells the story of a group of sheep who start looking into the mysterious death of their shepherd, George Hardy, played by Hugh Jackman.
The Australian actor is joined by a talented cast, including Nicholas Braun, Molly Gordon, Nicholas Galitzine, Hong Chau, Tosin Cole, Conleth Hill, and Emma Thompson, who all play supporting roles.
The real stars of Kyle Balda’s charming mystery aren’t the people – it’s the sheep! These fluffy creatures can secretly talk and are surprisingly good at solving clues. But who provides the voices for these adorable detectives?

Who is in the voice cast for The Sheep Detectives?
The movie features ten sheep, and nine of them are voiced by famous actors. The only exception is Tommy Birchall, a new voice actor who plays The Winter Lamb – a sheep who’s left out because of when it was born.
Lily, who naturally leads the group, is brought to life by Julia Louis-Dreyfus, known for her role in Veep. She won six Emmy Awards in a row for playing Selina Meyer on the popular sitcom, and also appears as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Bryan Cranston joins the cast, voicing Sebastian, a sheep leader from Iceland. Many know Cranston from the popular sitcom Malcolm in the Middle, but he later became famous for his critically acclaimed role as Walter White in Breaking Bad.
The cast includes the legendary Sir Patrick Stewart, who lends his voice to the character of Sir Richfield. A highly respected stage actor, Stewart is also widely known for playing Professor Charles Xavier in the X-Men movies.
Bella Ramsey, known for roles in both established and new shows, provides the voice for Zora. She first gained recognition as Lyanna Mormont in Game of Thrones and later starred as Ellie in HBO’s The Last of Us.

Chris O’Dowd voices Mopple, a Merino sheep in the film. O’Dowd first became well-known for playing Roy Trenneman in the TV show The IT Crowd, and has since appeared in popular Hollywood comedies like Bridesmaids and This Is 40.
Brett Goldstein, famous for playing Roy Kent on Ted Lasso, has a surprising double duty in the new murder mystery! He also provides the voices for Reggie and Ronnie, a set of identical twin Norfolk Horn sheep. It makes you wonder if the names are a playful nod to someone…
Regina Hall and Rhys Darby join the voice cast as Cloud and Wool-Eyes. Hall is well-known for her role as Brenda Meeks in the Scary Movie films, and Darby is a New Zealand actor who starred in Flight of the Conchords.
