The Xenomorphs are famous for being one of the scariest creatures in science fiction, mostly because they’re so hard to destroy. But recent developments in the story might finally make them vulnerable.
Marvel launched a new Alien comic book series, Alien: King Killer, in April. The second issue, released on May 6th, features a major discovery by the main character, Idris, offering humanity a potential way to fight back against the terrifying aliens. Idris possesses a sword capable of piercing the creatures’ armor, and the story shows him successfully using it to defeat one of them.
Alien’s New Lore Change Sees Humanity Fighting Back
Throughout most of the Alien movies, the biggest challenge for humans facing the Xenomorphs has been their incredibly corrosive blood. While dangerous, this acidic blood also acts as a natural defense for the creatures. Now, with Idris’s new metal sword, there’s a chance humanity can finally fight back directly and potentially control the Xenomorph problem.
Idris said something that really stuck with me – he just said “You’re lucky!” and it made me think. It seems like this sword isn’t something everyone has access to, which is cool, and it definitely feels like this is just the beginning of a much bigger story. I’m really excited to see how this plays out over the rest of the five issues!
The story began last month with a grim premise: humanity has already been defeated. According to Marvel’s description, the remnants of humankind are struggling to survive on a planet dominated by a brutal alien race, finding what little safety they can under the protection of three enigmatic figures known as the Three Kings.
A fourth, vengeful sibling has emerged among the warlords, and the humans’ last line of defense is keeping dangerous secrets – secrets that might be even more terrifying than the alien threat at their doorstep. This marks the beginning of a massive and incredibly dark new chapter in the world of Alien!
Alien: King Killer Explores a Dark Chapter in the Alien Timeline
The arrival of Idris and his powerful sword in issue #2 has opened up even more mysteries, especially regarding a possible hidden link between the main character and those who saved humanity. We’ll find out more next month when Alien: King Killer #3 is released on June 10th.
Marvel isn’t revealing much about what happens in the third issue yet, but it looks like Idris might try to break free. Whether he succeeds, and how, could depend on if he manages to keep the sword he has. Idris is one of the few people who survived, but his brother, the Green King, has captured him. Even if Idris escapes, he’ll still have to face whatever dangers lie outside the Green King’s fortress.
Alien: King Killer #2 is available now from Marvel Comics.
