Holy moly! Aussie pop star’s biblical fail leaves fans confused as he announces new business venture

Aussie boy band star Beau Brooks has announced a new business venture with some confusion.

He first gained widespread attention over ten years ago as part of The Janoskians, a YouTube group known for their funny videos. He was 32 years old at the time of writing.

Beau recently returned to X (formerly Twitter) after a year-long break from social media to announce his new business, Holy Hugs. The company sells weighted blankets and donates a portion of its proceeds to support programs helping people experiencing homelessness.

He announced he’d started a new business, saying it wasn’t aiming for global impact, but hoped it could make someone’s day a little better.

He added that for every two blankets purchased, one would be donated to the homeless.

The singer explained that the name of the brand is Holy Hugs. The blankets feature a quote from the Bible – specifically, Matthew 23:35, which reads, ‘For I was hungry, and you fed me.’

He concluded: ‘It’s a seed planted. What do you think?’

Sharp-eyed followers quickly spotted that Beau had misquoted a Bible verse in his post, even though the correct verse was printed on his merchandise.

The famous quote, ‘For I was hungry, and you fed me,’ actually comes from Matthew 25:35 in the Bible, not Matthew 23:35 as some believe.

The Holy Hugs website reveals that the blankets are being sold for $99.00.

Beau is also offering a few other items for sale: a black hoodie for $79, a relaxed-fit washed T-shirt for $39, and a washed sleeveless T-shirt for $32.

The Janoskians became an internet sensation soon after launching in 2011.

Beau, along with his twin brothers Luke and Jai Brooks, and their friends Daniel Sahyounie and James Yammouni, became popular online thanks to their funny videos on YouTube.

The group enjoyed playing pranks on people in Melbourne, as well as on each other. They also made funny fake documentaries and short comedy sketches, and were responsible for popular songs like “Set This World on Fire” and “Best Friends.”

Even though they had over 2.6 million followers on YouTube, the group stopped posting videos in 2018. Jai Brooks later confirmed in 2020 that they had decided to stop making content altogether.

The band, originally from Melbourne, chose their name as an abbreviation of ‘Just Another Name of Silly Kids in Another Nation’.

Beyond their TV show on MTV and a film on Netflix, the band also went on tour and famously sold out Wembley Arena in London.

The twins became internationally known, appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and even dating famous Hollywood stars.

It breaks my heart to even talk about it, but their amazing run eventually started to fade. It was devastating when they just… stopped posting on their main channel back in 2018. It felt like a piece of my world just disappeared, and I still check hoping they’ll come back!
