The Imposter fans think they’ve worked out who Dannii Minogue is playing

Spoilers for Channel 5’s The Imposter follow.

The new Channel 5 thriller, The Imposter, started this week and is already proving to be a hit with viewers. The drama stars Kym Marsh, known for her role in Coronation Street, and Jackie Woodburne, a familiar face from Neighbours.

Wooburne is a story set in Australia about Helen, a mother running a hotel with her three grown children. When she decides not to sell the hotel, it sparks a bitter family conflict, and one of her sons takes things too far.

The first episode showed that Helen had a daughter she gave up for adoption many years ago in England. Recently, that daughter, Amanda Marsh, attempted to get in touch with Helen. Even though Helen’s letter went unanswered, Amanda unexpectedly appeared in Australia.

The question is, is Amanda being truthful about her identity? Actually, she’s a fraud. She and Helen’s son, Simon, have been plotting to trick Helen into giving them ownership of the hotel.

Alongside Woodburne and Marsh, The Imposter also stars another soap legend — Dannii Minogue.

Kylie Minogue started her acting career playing Emma Jackson on the TV show Home and Away from 1989 to 1990. While she’s become very successful in television and music, this role was her first significant acting job after leaving the series.

After two episodes, Kylie Minogue hasn’t actually appeared in the series yet, only briefly in the preview trailer.

People on X are speculating that Kylie Minogue is actually playing the real Amanda, and she might soon expose Simon and the imposter’s scheme.

One viewer wondered if Dannii Minogue would appear disguised as Amanda, while another speculated that Dannii might actually be Amanda’s daughter.

Honestly, it’s so frustrating watching this storyline! I feel bad for Helen – none of her children, or the ones people think are hers, are doing anything right. I’m really hoping her actual adopted daughter shows up – my money’s on Dani Minogue – to help Helen out and finally give us a happy ending. It’s just a mess right now!

A viewer expressed frustration on social media, pointing out that Dannii Minogue appears in promotional clips for the show but hasn’t actually appeared in any episodes yet. They used the hashtag #TheImposter to voice their disappointment.

Dannii appeared briefly in a preview at the end of the last episode, so fans are hoping she’ll make a full appearance when the show continues tomorrow, Wednesday, December 16th.

The Imposter airs at 9pm on Channel 5.
