“We apologize”: Monster Hunter Wilds to get “Steam-specific stability patch” in January, nearly a year after launch, as Capcom ends major updates

PC gamers are still waiting for a fully optimized version of Monster Hunter Wilds, but Capcom is working on it. They plan to release a series of updates over the next few months – December, January, and February – to improve performance and fix issues specifically affecting PC players, aiming to resolve the ongoing problems with the port.

The final major update for Monster Hunter Wilds, called Title Update 4, is coming in December. This update will improve how the game runs on all systems by optimizing both the processor (CPU) and graphics card (GPU). According to Capcom, they’re focusing on making things faster by refining things like how the game handles visuals, collisions, and special effects.

So, the December update is looking really good! They’re working on making the game run smoother by cutting down on stuff that’s bogging down my GPU and CPU. Plus, they’re saying there are over 100 little tweaks and improvements hitting everything – from how monsters and NPCs act, to how my Palico behaves, and even the menus and graphics. Basically, they’re polishing up the whole experience, making it run better and look nicer. I’m excited!

PC players will need to wait until January 2026 for improvements to the game’s performance on computers. According to Capcom, this update focuses specifically on PC-related issues and will be released alongside the already planned TU4 patch, acting as an additional fix for stability.

So, the next update isn’t just about new content – they’re letting us tweak the graphics and CPU settings a lot more. They’re adding presets too, which is awesome because it’ll help us lower the game’s demands on our computers if we need to. Honestly, I’m not sure exactly how this will change what the game looks like, but hopefully it means smoother gameplay for everyone.

Capcom is also working on making the game run smoother by improving how shaders load, which should reduce stuttering. They’re also optimizing how the game uses video memory (VRAM) and improving how textures load, especially for those using the high-resolution texture pack.

In February, along with a smaller update introducing the Arch-Tempered Arkveld monster, Capcom plans to improve the visual quality of 3D models by adding different levels of detail. This will allow the game to adjust how detailed models appear based on distance, potentially improving performance.

During the recent Monster Hunter presentation, producer Ryozo Tsujimoto mentioned the team is still exploring ways to enhance the February update, meaning the final details could be different than what’s currently known.

Players have shared feedback about how well the Steam version of the game is running, and the development team is carefully reviewing it to improve performance and fix any issues.

I’m really excited about the updates the team is making! They’re doing a lot of final testing to make sure everything runs smoothly and doesn’t cause problems for people with older setups. Honestly, the way he talked about it makes me a little nervous, like something could still go wrong, you know?

Tsujimoto acknowledges the delay in resolving recent problems and asks for a little more patience. They assure players that the team is dedicated to making things better and delivering a fantastic gaming experience.

Okay, so I’ve been playing Monster Hunter Wilds on PC, and while it’s gotten a little better since it first came out, it’s just not as good as World was, and definitely not as smooth as Rise. The game keeps getting these updates that cause a lot of stuttering, and honestly, it’s really hurt the reviews on Steam. It feels like those issues have also caused a big drop in how many people are still playing, which is a shame.

Okay, so I was getting a little worried that Capcom might be finished supporting Monster Hunter Wilds after the recent updates stopped being called ‘major’. But then I remembered how well Wilds did when it first came out – it broke all sorts of records for them! And they’ve done this before with World and Rise, adding huge Master Rank expansions like Iceborne and Sunbreak. So, I’m pretty confident they’re not done with Wilds yet, and we’ll probably get a big expansion down the line!

It’s very likely we’ll see the first details of the Wilds DLC at The Game Awards 2025 tonight, December 11th. Even if not, I expect we’ll learn about the planned updates for Monster Hunter Wilds within the next few months.
